What teams do you think will have much better seasons than the media thinks? I have two:

UCLA
BYU

Those are bold picks BobZag. Both have a fairly long trend of underachieving under current coaches. I don't see either turning that around.

Good question though. I can't even think of a good dark horse candidate off the top of my head.

I don't know how many players Pacific lost (talking WCC darkhorses) but I thought Coach had them going the right direction last year.

Not sure I'd put Nevada on that list... They are top 8 in most polls.

For me...

Purdue
Texas Tech

This will be an unpopular opinion around here, but I think Washington will win the Pac-12. The Nowell/Thybulle/Dickerson trio is pretty good, and nobody else in that league is too impressive except maybe Oregon.

A slightly different twist - Pepperdine. A WCC surprise more than a national surprise, but don’t be surprised if they finish 4th in the WCC. It’ll take a while for the talented freshmen to get adjusted, but by conference play they could be the “best of the rest” outside the top 3.

It’s not looking good for Pacific, what with the Kansas, Zona, etc mess looming.

Oregon, Auburn, Virginia Tech.

I think Dana Altman is a top shelf coach.

Seattle U and San Francisco.

Both have a history of winning and being in the NC game.

Villanova. Everbody's written them off w/ the departures, but still have the country's best coach.

I think you tied for first place. . . Honorable mention to Vinny picking UW to win the PAC-12

Very prescient. Both coaches now gone. Another bad year for both teams.

Funny how you mentioned three in the same part of the bracket.

These teams were 7, 10 and 2 in the West. Florida beat Nevada, Michigan beat Florida

Man, we got some smart people here. VA Tech, Texas Tech, Auburn and Purdue were some good picks. I didn't predict who would have a good season, but at least I accurately called a couple teams that wouldn't.
