And I'll nominate Ford @ SMC (assuming he plays the point). Think he's gonna' have a big year.

Emphatically open-ended. I like it. You could be very at coach-speak.

Perkins will get some head to head matchups early to stake his claim to best PG award:

1) vs Cassius Winston and the Spartans in “secret scrimmage” A reputable leak or two about how they matched up could influence voters’ opinion.
2) hopefully vs either Jared Harper of Auburn or, my preference, vs Tre Jones of Duke in Maui
3) vs Jordan Bone of Tennessee (who I’ve never heard of)
4) vs ??? in NCAA

Sure wish Zags would play the Ducks every year home and home.

Does the fact UNC doesn’t have anyone on this list suggest PG is a weak spot for the Tar Heels? Fare thee well Joel Berry III

He has a chance because there are no good point guards this year.

No, but Grant Gibbs is still with Creighton...

And from the Andy Katz article (next door), add Fillip Petrusev as a freshman no one is talking about enough.

Josh didn't make it in the top 15 point guards in the nation in this sportswriter's list:

The Athletic's beat writer for Gonzaga MBB, Kendra Andrews, has contributed a feature story on Perkins to the growing list of national-level media coverage of this year's edition of the Zags

Brief Excerpt:

But during his senior year, Perkins injured his right shoulder — an ailment that limited him as a senior, led to a drop in the recruiting rankings and has lingered throughout his college career. This summer, four years later, Perkins underwent surgery as he continued to experience discomfort.

According to his father, doctors found that Josh’s labrum — the cup-shaped rim of cartilage that lines and reinforces the ball and socket joint of the shoulder and is the attachment site for the ligaments — was torn. When there is a tear in the labrum, it can lead to partial or complete shoulder dislocation.

“That shoulder surgery he had, that’s tough stuff,” says Gonzaga coach Mark Few. “It knocks you down for quite a while, but he’s bounced back pretty good. He still has little cringes and tweaks. I think that scarred tissue is kind of getting jostled around in there, but so far, so good.”
