Nice piece on the One.

SPOKANE, Wash. — On a recent August morning, the city Adam Morrison loves dearly is barely recognizable. Smoke from wildfires in Canada and along the West Coast has seeped in and settled over the skies of Eastern Washington. The EPA considers an air quality index of 300 to be “hazardous.” On this day the AQI is 382, the worst in the country. Few people are out on the streets, and many of those who do brave the conditions are wearing surgical masks.

The smoke also messes with Morrison’s admittedly loose agenda for the day. Like any good Pacific Northwestener, he endures the dreary, rainy winter months as the necessary tradeoff for spectacular summers. If the air were clear, he’d probably be across the Idaho border sitting on his pontoon at Lake Coeur d’Alene, with his three kids or just chilling by himself. Or maybe he’d be on the golf course, since he typically plays about 60 rounds a year. At least he can still indulge another passion, plopping down at a poker table at one of the area’s Native American casinos. There, smoke is viewed as less a hazard and more a price for doing business..

......Morrison’s unabiding love for the Zags — he served as the team’s ball boy when he was 10 — comes through on the broadcasts. He’ll pump his fists and leap to his feet in big moments, such as when Zach Norvell hit a game-clinching 3-pointer in the first round of the NCAA Tournament against UNC Greensboro. Morrison proved such a natural at the gig that Hudson says he could see Morrison becoming a national college basketball analyst.

God I love Adam Morrison, the guy owns an 85' Caprice.

Say what you will, he has a sharp mind and he doesn't give a damn what people think.

Great post. Thanks. I enjoy reading about Zag players from the past, and Adam is my favorite. I'm glad to hear about how he's doing. Sounds like he's doing great.

ncaa bb men player of year, shared with Reddick
lets get his jersey hanging from the rafter
I am sure the press on him that year helped with national brand, and recruiting,
c'mon it would only be the third one,
I see D1 athletes crying on TV all the time now,
let him feel the pride, instead
of waiting till he is dead to hoist his flag

I find it fascinating that he almost sued Wiltjier for his comments on his guns. Ammo really emphasized that he’s a caring father first and foremost, making sure his guns are properly locked away. Not trying to start any gun debate, but it sounds like Mr. Morrison is doing his best to live his best life!

Especially with the comment about him being a caring father and the term " probably locked" wtfau to judge him. Let's get back to basketball!!! That's why he lives in the north west and not in California!!!

Apologies for the lack of care with my language as I was on a meal break and somewhat distracted while I wrote that. Like I said, not trying to get into any gun debate. From what was written in the article, it sounds like he is a responsible gun owner. My point was more that I found the anecdote about him wanting to sue Wiltjier to be an entertaining tiff between two former great Zags. That is all...

We've drifted a "fur piece" from Adam being a good announcer, color and play by play guy. All the add on junk is really a distraction. About 7 weeks till our first tip.

I certainly wish I could get him on radio more frequently. I have tried tuning him in during games on occasion and find him as expert and professional sounding as any announcer I have heard. I definitely could see him calling games on a national level. I would love to see him work at that.

The most exciting player to watch in Zag basketball lore in my book. He is truly and individualist and dances to his own tune.
