I’m as excited about next year as the next person, but #1 is ridiculous.

Interesting how making it to the championship game has changed people's perspective of GU. Lots of comments and not a single one slamming the author for picking GU #1. There's also comments where people agree with him and other comments how GU and Nevada should be #1 and #2.

A whole new world. The days of comments like "GU is overrated", "They don't play in a tough conference, so don't deserve it.", "They never make it past the second week." are over.

Don't disagree, but just telling how much respect GU has now days.

That is certainly true!

Why? We return more proven talent than any of the other teams that are ahead of us in the other polls.

The fact that there isn't a single comment on that thread bashing the Zags and calling them overrated shows how far the program has come.

Weirdly, there are a good number that agree with GU being #1.

JMHO... top 10, yeah.... top 5, maybe... #1, ummm let me get back to you on that one.

Unlikely, yeah, but not ridiculous. Nova has been winning mostly w/ experienced 2nd tier talent (defined as multiyear guys ranked 25-100 out of hs; they haven't signed anyone truly elite, Spellman probably closest). Ky and Duke's freshman teams win sometimes but not a sure thing.

Looks to me like you could throw a blanket over the top 10 next year and anyone could emerge; #1 unlikely but certainly not impossible, assuming a healthy Josh and Tillie.

Kansas has been 1 in most polls and I think they have the most talent with their incoming freshmen and really good transfers but they only have 3 players that played 10 min a game last year returning. It will be interesting to see how they gel. It looks like a lot of talented teams in the top 10 who could win and it will be fun to see how it plays out.

I had more or less the same thought reading the comments
