May the coaches forward that article to potential big man recruits.

Such a misleading headline. He accrued enough minutes during the year to have a 1 million dollar bonus kick in. The contract was written that way to allow another signing. He made 10+ million in base salary.

So great to see him succeeding! He's a level headed dude too. Glad he was a ZAG!

Kelly Olynick owes even more than most athletes to GU for his formation. Obviously Kelly is the main factor, natural gifts, drive, intellect.

But, he was "lost" until the coaches really put him to work on re-thinking his entire game, and the trainers re-building his body/muscle mass.

You are absolutely right, Tex. This should be a big portion of any approach to a big man. Not the focus on the $10 million, it doesn't need to call attention to itself. More to focus a young man on how GU can find parts of your game you didn't know existed, and how they pay off.

Couldn't happen to a more deserving and worthwhile person, either. Kelly is still grounded. Great Zag, great Canadian, great young man, and hopefully a great ambassador for GU as he progresses. Maybe Kelly can drop some phone calls. Is it legal to do?

I think out of all the Zags players I've seen come through the program I'm always proudest of Olynyk. The fact that he swallowed his pride by not transferring and instead sticking with the program by taking the non-medical redshirt in the MIDDLE of his college career speaks volumes. I'm very happy to see him having a successful NBA career.

I especially like the blurb that he was a FIVE YEAR big man. Shows our Bigs that waiting another year is not always a bad idea.

Uh wasn't he four years, leaving early after his redshirt junior year to go pro?

They didn't say he was a 5th year senior, they said he was in the 5th year of his pro career.
