Portland loses at Chiles tonight to D-2 Western Oregon. Nik Raivio had decent numbers. Portland may be the weakest WCC MBB team since Bollwinkel's last team at SMC. Sorry PilotNut.

Not pretty.
Ouch is right. We looked downright terrible tonight. Thats all there is to say; it looked nothing like a Reveno-disciplined team.
I dont think your comment of the Worst WCC team is fair yet--we are just very young/inexperienced now.
This was the first game for a UP team that only has one senior and 2 juniors, none of which contribute much. Only 5 guys on the bench have played D-1 hoops before; the rest are freshman and transfers/red shirts.
We arent this bad (gawd i hope not, anyway). We play Concordia on Saturday night; let's re-consider after that game. That, or I am going to need A LOT of post-game beers...Go Pilots!

I was one of the 895 (if there were 895) in the Chiles Center.
The Pilots are a very young, inexperienced group. There is one senior and one junior. Raveno appeared to be looking to find his starting five. No one really stood out. Nik Raivio is no Derek, but he did show some spark in the second half. Luke Sikma shows some promise, but was very uneven. From what I saw tonight, I will be surprised if they win one WCC game.
I wasn't aware until I looked at the schedule that they will play the Huskies in Seattle on December 15, 2007. That should help the Huskies beef up their national exposure and enhance their RPI.

Nik looked pretty good, relatively speaking. He is quick, strong, and we will REALLY need him to step up this year. He has a lot of potential, and he looks like he should be Derek's *older* brother--taller & bigger, and not the baby face. But there is a ton of resemblance.
To be honest, I cant really say much after tonight, as you can tell. Ask me again in a couple weeks, and hopefully the jitters are worked out.Go Pilots!

I keep hearing good things about Blake Griffin....that he is going to be one of the major impact freshman in the nation this season.
