Hudson and Morrison: Its an outright league championship for GU @ 17-1. Impressive win for the Zags. Only three lead changes. Silas came out ready to go, you could see the fire in his belly. He is a winning basketball player. BYU went on a 16 to 6 run in the first half and actually cut the lead to 2 on 2 different occasions. GU held BYU to 27% shooting in the second half. By the 14 minute mark of the second half you could just see BYU wasn't in it and the crowd was out of it as GU built the lead to 21. 6 Bulldogs in double figures for the Zags tonight as they shoot 56% from the field as they hold BYU to 39%.

Childs leads the Cougars with 19 and Bryant had 16 but they were a combined 12-31 from the field. Worthington who was kind of a thorn in the Zags side at the MAC was scoreless and only had 2 shots. What a wonderful job by the Zags as the last 6 games in the series were decided by 6 points but not tonight. It was a wonderful atmosphere as BYU jumped out to a 3-0 lead but the Zags had a great defensive plan and really took the cougars out of their game.

A big first half for Melson with 10 at the half. Interestingly the only Zags who attempted free throws tonight were Norvell, 7-8 and Rui 2-2 and J3 0-1. Another nice night for Jonathan Perkins 14 points 7 assists, 6 rebounds and 2 TO's. This game was over with 10 minutes left, you could see it in the Cougars body language. Morrsion noted J3 made Childs work really hard for his points tonight and Child's was gassed as the game wound down! Zags win rebound 38-29.

Michaelson: We were spectacular in that first 10 minutes. Other than the second ten minutes of the second half we were spectacular for the whole game. Melson took Haws out of his game. Perk, Silas and Snacks really bounced back from the other night. We got out in transition. Zack guarded Bryant really really well.

We took care of the ball, we rebounded great, but we had way too many fouls. They were in the double bonus way to early as they were shooting free throws for 13 minutes. We did a great job holding them to 22 field goals in the game but they got half their points from the line in the second half.

This is as tough a place to play as their is in America and we came in here and silenced the crowd. Haws did not have a point in the second half. That is great defensive work.We did a really good job of just focusing on ourselves. I just can't say enough for how hard the guys worked. We told the guys there is not one person who thinks we can do this after we lost to SMC at home, but guess what, we won the rest of our games and we have the #1 seed in Vegas.

Williams was 8-12 from the field for 16 points, 15 Norvell, 12 for Rui and Melson, 10 for Tillie and 14 for Perk. There was just a little bit extra in the look in Melson's eye tonight. That's what you want from your seniors. BYU has a good backcourt and our guys just took it to them tonight.

Morrison said the biggest stat for him tonight is 18 assists and 9 TO's. It was tough sledding for Childs tonight, we did a good job of pushing him off the block. Every shot he took was contested and he was gassed as the end of night. Haws had 26 in Spokane and only 6 tonight on 6 shots, which Hudson and Morrison kind of shook their heads out. Morrison also noted it was funny when Hardnett made those two first half threes because sometimes you kind of layoff a guy who you don't think can beat you and then all of a sudden he makes a couple shots and thinks he's better than he his and it kind of looked like that might be the case with Hardnett tonight but he too was pretty much shut down in the second half.

That'll do it for tonight. Zags back on the air next Saturday evening live from Las Vegas.

Haws looked defeated for the whole game. Silas shut him down down the stretch in Spokane and never let him up tonight

Great recap, always appreciated.

Morrison mentioned that he was surprised Haws sat so much in the 1st half.

In Haws defense, the kid rolled his ankle vs the Pilots. Will give him a bit of a pass.
