Gonzaga, ranked No. 6 in the nation, had complained that the
selection committee should have seeded them higher. The Cowboys,
meanwhile, were merely happy to be in the tournament.
The Cowboys, assuming the role of underdog that Gonzaga wore so
well in past tournaments, beat up the Zags physically, repelled
every Gonzaga run and simply refused to go away. Instead, it's
sixth-seeded Gonzaga that makes a quick exit.
"They really physically took it to us," Gonzaga coach Mark Few
said.
As a team Gonzaga hit just 19 of 71 shots -- a 26.8 percentage
that was 20 points below their season average.

Wyoming was the outright regular season Champion of the #7 basketball conference in the nation that year, and that game was played at altitude against the school (Wyoming) that had the most wins in The Pit (other than host New Mexico). That was a FAR greater “hosing” than playing Davidson in Steph Curry’s back yard.
Should the Zags have prevailed? Sure. But it was FAR from a choke. At least in my opinion.sigpic

Rankings are a snapshot of how a team is playing at this time, where seeding should be based on the resume for the entire year, the 2 dont always line up. GU is on a roll now and I think will be a three seed if they win out, four at worst. Still using RPI is hurting us. No major conference school could have had an easier schedule last week than we did with LMU and Pepperdine. We move up in rankings almost by default while other teams play tougher games. I honestly think 10-12 is a more accurate ranking for this team, but when playing well they can play with anyone.
