That's 2 straight losses to unranked opponents for Wichita St., right? I would expect a big drop in the polls.

I don't think anybody started a thread yesterday, Fridays tend to be a light schedule, but Michigan St. hammered Indiana last night.

A bit O/T, but has anyone noticed how screwed up the WCC schedule is? We aren't through the first half of the season, and we're playing our second games against Portland and SCU before playing BYU? Same thing applies to SMC & Pacific, who play tonight.

I'm just not getting it...

It is a head scratcher for me too, TZF. How hard can it really be to make the schedule? And then the women play the "opposite" schedule. I would favor a "home and home" in the same week with your travel partner if it meant going back to either being on the road each week for two games or at home. This business of being home on Thursday and away on Saturday has to increase the overall travel costs.

Stanford up 11 over Arizona right now. Stanford is notable because they play 6 games against our opponents.

Arizona has come back to tie it. Thanks to a squabble between Frontier Communications and CBS, I can't watch the game. Which is good for my blood pressure anyway. Looking at box score, Ayton is nearly a non-factor today, he'll be hard pressed to get a double double. Winner of the game is all alone in first place in the conference.

Arizona hangs on 73-71. Both teams missed some FTs down the stretch. The Cats seem a bit sketchy, but they're winning games. Other than Cal haven't blown anyone out in conference. I don't have much confidence in this team. Might be best team in Pac 12 by default. I'd say last year Oregon, Arizona and UCLA were all significantly better than anybody in the Pac 12 this year.

Now that I'm retired, I don't have to listen to a coworker who's a big, bandwagon Duke fan. It's been a glorious few months...lol.

No other team has earned the enmity I have for BYU. I consider SMC a respected rival, though I don't respect Bennett for the way he schedules. Lingering in the back of my mind is the knowledge that SMC may fall back to the middle of the WCC pack after this year. Don't know how Randy replaces Naar, Hermanson, and Landale.

I've thought that before. They always seem to have someone else step up. They lost Mills, Simpson and Samhan (not all at once, but over a couple years), and McConnell and the rabid wombat from Tasmania took over. They've taken a bit of a step back for a year or two, but haven't finished lower than 3rd in the conference in forever I believe. I don't see a fade to the middle of the pack happening as long as Bennett is there, not unless the rest of the WCC improves dramatically.

I'm obviously not going to change your mind Spy, I won't even try. I can understand Miller isn't the easiest coach to like. As far as arrogance, I think every fan base that is used to winning consistently has some built in arrogance. Even GU has a healthy dose of it wafting around the program. I think the "U of A" chant is pretty cool, it shows they have a strong fan base that is far flung. I know I've heard a vocal group of GU fans celebrating in the stands when the Zags win games on conference foes' home court many times. To the victor go the spoils, right?

It could be worse. In the Pac 12 they still have a travel partner, but the women have to play their travel partner/rival back to back, less than 48 hours apart. Now that is stupid!

I hate them even more now that Zion Williamson committed to them today. He lives 20 minutes up the road for me and everyone thought he was going to commit to Clemson because that's where his stepdad played and he just disappointed a lot of people by being a follower and going to Duke. Really disappointed in his decision.

3 teams in the top 10 lost twice this week (Oklahoma, Wichita St., Texas Tech). Will be interesting to see how far they move, if a bunch of teams below them lost as well. I think college hoops is getting smacked in the face w/ parity on a weekly basis.

First of all he's a five star who grew up 45 minutes away from Clemson, whose step dad raised him since he was an infant and who Zion considers his father played at Clemson and by all accounts everyone expected him to announce Clemson as his choice tonight. His Darkhorse was South Carolina, so all the local prognosticators here were assuming that he was going to commit to one of the two schools in state. But he took the easy way out and chose Puke and many people, myself included are disappointed.

That's what I gathered, his choice of Duke seemed out of the blue. I also gather he fancies himself a wing, although he might fit more in the mold of an undersized power forward. The #1 and #2 ranked players in the class that also committed to Duke are also wings. Not sure how many wings you can play at the same time, even w/ this growing trend of positionless basketball. He may very well find himself being a post player at Duke, regardless of what he fancies himself to be.

Lingering in the back of my mind is the knowledge that SMC may fall back to the middle of the WCC pack after this year. Don't know how Randy replaces Naar, Hermanson, and Landale.

RB comes up with likely his best recruiting class coming in next year. Can't really replace our 3 seniors but coming in we have one new Aussies and 2 Kiwi's on the roster. All pretty highly regarded. I might add our RS transfer Malik Fitts with 3 years left some say might be our best player. Kyle Clarke will be back too. Also a big man from Estonia. He good. And...a RS freshman from Latvia, Kristers Zoriks. We are limiting Domestic born players as part of an immigration plan. I'm not too concerned about the Gaels being in the middle of the WCC pack but you can keep wondering/worrying. Who knows, you might be right. But don't think so...
