Hopkins early impressions...good head coach likable respectful and excited. All good for the State of Washington and the west coast IMO.

Hopkins on Few

“One of the great coaches and great people in the business,” Hopkins said. “I’ve known him through USA Basketball and went to one of the first Coaches Versus Cancer things back in the day and have so much respect for him and what he’s built. He’ll probably be one of those coaches when you see Coach K and Coach Boeheim and the 1,000-win club, he’ll probably be the guy that joins that club.”

Philosophy

“I like to say I’m a truth-teller,” Hopkins said. “So at the end of the day, this is where we’re at. These are the facts. If you don’t like it, then you don’t like it. And if you like it, you like it. But this is where we’re at. And until we do this, this and this, we’re always going to be there.
“Nothing changes when nothing changes. You’ve got to be able to go out there and produce and execute. So that’s been our message.”

Thybulle scored a career-high 19 points and had another personal best when he hit 5 of his 8 3-pointers.So far this season, Thybulle has set career highs in points, steals, blocks, assists, rebounds and 3-pointers made. No Huskies player in the last 15 years has had season highs with those numbers over a full campaign, according to UW.
He’s also the only Division I player in the nation to set career highs in those categories and the first in Pac-12 history since the 1996-97 season, according to STATS, Inc.
Thybulle is one of eight players total in the last 20 years to reach such a mark. He joins names like former Duke star Shane Battier and Georgetown’s Otto Porter.
He also finished with four rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block while playing 35 minutes against one of the best offenses in the nation.

Nice finds, CEO

Found this snippet interesting, compared to the NE Patriots, eh?

“I always thought of Gonzaga like the New England Patriots: They’re always finding some type of way to win games,” Wright said. “Growing up, I will never see this team in the regular season but come tournament time, they’re always a high seed.”

Gonzaga coach Mark Few and Hopkins’ predecessor, Lorenzo Romar, were respectful and civil toward each other, but their public disagreements included a few verbal jabs, mostly from Few, over the years.

What on earth is he talking about? Aside from the Bigfoot’s baby comment that Coach Few apologized for, when did Mark Few ever throw any kind of verbal jab at Coach Romar?
