OK... doubt we see any Zag loss predictions on this one... Thoughts, things you'd like to see, and of course predictions if you so please.

Have at it boys and girls.

I hope to see Incarnate Word press the Zags for forty minutes. I hope the Zags look better against the press than they did against the last Texas team.

I hope to see Rui, Wade, Norvell, and Larsen play starter minutes and play well.

I predict a blowout. Zags 95. Words 64.

Rui development. And, a decision on Wade. Can Wade play at high-major D-1 level against the Florida's and Villanova's of the world, or would he have been better served at a Big Sky school like BYU, or is he just hurt and not going to be healthy any time soon?

Huge rainstorm. Roof over K-2 collapses. Huge puddle on floor. Both teams walk on water, but refs award game to the team that can walk on the deepest water. GU wins by a fraction of an inch. Amen!

Go Bulldogs!

This. Ok give the starters 5 minutes each..... except for Kispert. Give him 25 but tie his right hand behind his back.

No matter the score, have a feeling starters all log 28+ mins. The bench will get some run here and there and the final 2-3 mins. That's it.

Just not in Few's style to show lack of respect to opponent or "rest guys".

And knowing Mark, I guarantee not a single mention of Creighton is allowed until Wednesday following the game.

Its just who he is, and we're grateful to have it.

He respects every game, every opponent, every coach, player, et al.

We can't fathom it, yet every Coach will be talking Incarnate Word in practice this week, including film study, walk throughts, practice, etc.

Creighton won't get a mention to players til Wednesday night scout hand-out in the lockerroom.

Our assistant coaches will be working behind the scenes on Creighton, but that's it.

This was told to me by a former player. The players will undoubtedly be thinking about Creighton, even wanting to prepare for them, watching tape on their own, yet our culture isn't that...

Ever listened to Coach Few discuss the NCAA Tournament compared to other Coaches? Coach Few will only discuss the opponent at hand, and I respect him for that, while other Coaches discuss all 3 potential opponents.

Want to see no injuries. Speaking of which...

What is the story on Wade? Heard he was out with a shoulder injury but no details about if he is on the mend. Here's something from Nov 2nd

http://www.spokesman.com/stories/2017/nov/02/gonzaga-freshman-jesse-wade-expected-to-miss-satur/

If he is healthy and not playing well enough to earn minutes then that would be a bummer because we need depth at PG. If shoulder is serious, then are we looking at a redshirt after he spent 2 years on a mission? We might have a BYU-style 22 year old frosh next year.

I can't even predict the "normal" games. We know this will be a blowout, but the score can be almost anything, depending on who plays and what the coaches want.

I'll go with:

I don't know if Incarnate Word will press us or not. I hope they do because GU needs to work against the press. I hope Mark Few and his staff have begun to work on breaking a press. It seemed evident to me that they had not worked on a press. If they had worked on it I'll admit that I am shocked. From my understanding of breaking a press that is not how it is done. 1. You don't bring the ball up the sidelines, and especially, if you accidently do, you don't have your big guys dribbling the ball. The worse place to get trapped is near the any of the out of bounds lines. 2. You need to have a player in the middle of the court and it's best to try to get the ball to that person. He should be a good ball handler. The theory behind this is to punish a team for pressing. You can get lay-ups against a press by getting the ball to the middle and then attacking the defense with a 3 on 2 advantage. The other problem the Zags had was when the player who received the inbounds pass from Josh would get the ball back to Josh (which is what he should do) but then after Josh got the ball back the guards often abandoned him in the backcourt. Josh would get double-teamed and had no guard to pass the ball to. So let's all hope that the coaches are working on it a lot because there's a good chance Villanova will press them too.

Hope to begin to see better free throw shooting.

Would like to see ....,
Norvell look spiffy on D
Larsen continue to improve all around
Zags with bare minimum of turnovers
Bench getting serious mins w/ starters in as needed for team building and sharpening of skills for 12/1 & 12/5 games. If starters foul out during a game the GU bench just plain needs more game time when itís ripe to get it. Incarnate Word appears to be a good opportunity for bench play - especially with Creighton and Villanova next in line.

More experimentation and more minutes for Norvell, Hansen, Jones and Wade. Time to develop depth and flexibility in lineups according to the opponent. As for Wade: great potential, but injury woes a continuing concern. Redshirt may be necessary, and he has already played in three games. Need to make a decision soon, before the option of a medical redshirt expires. If he can’t play now, and wouldn’t be essential for WCC competition, why waste a valuable year of eligibility or push him beyond physical limits? Clearly, this is not just “rust” from a two-year lay off.

First - No Injuries!!
Second - I would like to see Rui get more confidence building minutes.
Third - Melson breaks out of his shooting slump BUT continues play GREAT defense.
Fourth - I’d like to see Josh penetrate and score from lay-ups.
Fifth - Figure a better way to break the press.
