I'll be travelling and, depending on tomorrow's gametime, may not get to do this, so I'm calling it right now - it doesn't matter who they play. The Zags will be tired after their physical victory over Ohio State tonight, so tomorrow's game will be a slower-paced, close, tense game, but the good guys will show their mettle and finish strong to win, with some clutch free-throw shooting at the end.

Zags - 72
(TBD) - 66

Hope I'm wrong, but I think this team will hit some speed bumps somewhere along the way (especially if they are not hitting their 3's) - and this Florida team may be one of them. I would love to see GU really shut down the perimeter shots and control the boards.

My prediction is:

Someone wearing a Gonzaga hoodie locates Dakich’s hotel room and Superglues the door shut trapping him inside, unable to get to the arena to broadcast the game. Elated fans set aside plans to storm the court and drag him from the venue.

What I want to see is a more concerted effort to get Tillie post touches. He is too good to just be a guy who hustles, rebounds and scores on the break. This team cannot beat elite teams through the three ball and JWIII hook shots. Teams are going to start making it really miserable on JWIII unless Tillie becomes more of a factor. The other reason why GU needs Tillie to be more of a factor is that he is one of the team's best foul shooters. He can help make up for some of the poor foul shooting of JWIII. Keep in mind.......if the game gets really tight tomorrow night, Few is probably going to have to take JWIII out to avoid Hack-A-John. Where will GU's post options come from if Florida misses the foul shot and JWIII can't get in??

Honestly I think we're ok on the boards. The issue will be defense. Fla shoots ungodly well from the 3 land. We've done well there as well. Our defense simply must contain the LD shooters..... especially Kouluchek ( sp).
Close game coming up. Zags by 3. Tillie, Larsen and J3 must perform like never before. Fla is uncanny in capitalizing on to's so those must be limited.

I must say the guys have overshot my expectations early on.
We are a young team, there will be ups and downs, but I think they make a statement in their first game as this group against a top-10 team. I also think the crowd support gives us a little bit of a boost.

I hope to see fewer turnovers from GU. . .the "value every possession" mantra from The Big Dance success needs to make an early appearance in Portland tonight. I think the Gators will be focusing on Josh and JWIII so somebody else needs to step up the point production.

All going to depend on our 3 point defense and if their shots are falling 2 games in a row.

I like our chances that they will cool down.

I also think we are ready for the small ball lineup and match up well against them with JW3 and Tillie. They will be key.

First win against Ohio St is a great boost. Zags shouldn’t feel that they are playing with house money now and hopefully come out lose and relaxed.

That being said, this is a real test. Fla is a senior laden, veteran team. We are catching a break with Egbunu out.

I am not sure which Florida we get, the one that thrashed Standford or the one that struggled mightily against New Hampshire. One thing for sure, in the opening half of Florida-Standford I turn to my Father-in-Law and said that Standford would be lucky to stay within 30, because man I have not seen such bad Defense since watching the Huskies last year. I said when I watch Chiozza dribble from coast to coast after a made basket through all five Standford players and not one of the five made an effort to stop him. He just dribbled past them like they were gray pylons. I mean this Stanford team made last years Udub's Huskies look like a Defensive juggernaut. Florida look like they were just doing 3 point drill without any rotation from the Cardinal. I can see why Eastern Washington throttled Standford at their place despite the size disadvantage.

The Gators can expect a whole lot better D from the Zags. Koulechov is a gunner and GU will be ready for him. (Corey Kispert has to stay home and GU can't afford any cowboy defense) I think the Gators regress to the mean as they have not faced an elite defense like the Zags. Also, even against Stanford, the Gators had trouble stopping the inside game, and though they probably have Kevarrius Hayes back, I still think JW3 owns the paint against the Gators. With the Zags having such good athletic bigs that can cover the perimeter like JW3 (can cover 1-5), Tillie (can cover 2-5), Rui (can cover 1-4) and the best one defensive backcourt in Zags history in Perkins and Silas, good luck trying to go small ball against this Zag unit. Zags win this one and going away.

I'd like to see Norvel and Williams play better within the offense and not force it. Williams got stuck under the basket several times and had 6 turnovers last night. Would love to see him pass it out more. Norvel needs to take better shots. He looks like a true freshman with some of his shot selection. Hopefully both with get coached up and improve.

1. Zags need to do waaaaaaaaaaaay better on the 50/50 rebounds. OSU had 12 Off. Boards, Zags 7. I felt the Zags lost the 50/50 balls on the floor in the 1st half, better in the 2nd.

2. JIII had 6 of the 13 TO's. Can't just keep putting his head down & bulling toward the hoop vs this level of athleticism.

Contain dribble drive. Again this is guard responsibility....Silas defense critical..kispert no silly fouls

I'm going out on a limb here, but Florida is missing their ALL-American center who is a beast. They will certainly be better once he returns. I think Florida has a tough time guarding our post players, and make enough 3's to give the Zags the separation they need and then maintain it.

Looking for our post players to have a good game. Looking forward to the match up between JW3 and Hudson. I think Melson will guard Koutechov which will also be a great match-up. Looking forward to this game for a long time. Florida reached the Elite 8 last year and the Zags the NCAA Finals.

I hope that last nights game reflects a new norm.

I hope so. One of these guys listed as a guard is going to have to begin driving the key. So far, it's not so much but it does collapse the defense. It's a ##### in there and everyone knows it but it's got to be done. Maybe Corey should...lol.......he'd make a hole that's for certain. But seriously, it's hostile in the key for a smaller guard. Both Silas and Josh need to force the play. We have some excellent shooters on the outside.

I'm on the same boat here.

sensing a 9-12 pt game.

Florida is averaging 101 ppg after 4 games.

I know we'll play better defense than they've seen, yet profilic guards and shooters. They killed it with their high level transfers.

Add in long, athletic forwards. They hound our guards with their depth in the backcourt, and take up front.

They are on another level this season.

Coach B Mike said, they are vastly underrated at even #7!! His words were, "Top 5, easy".

Guys like Norvell, Rui, even Kispert isn't quite ready to see a barage of shots and drives from every angle. Florida is well coached, gritty, and they share their attempts.

Just a bit better than us right now.

In March, I think the Zags exploit the 4 guard lineup and our young guys let the game come to them.

Have we played from behind yet? Nope.

Feels like this team may panic a bit or force things from the outside.

Unless Perkins has another 6-8 3pt night, we drop this game.
