Mike Davis thinks this is the best team he's had at Texas-Southern. That 7-2 center is going to dominate in the SWAC. However, it would be nice if the athletic dept. could reward the team with a better situation than this:

11/10 at Gonzaga.....loss
11/12 at Washington State
11/16 at Ohio State
11/18 at Syracuse
11/21 at #4 Kansas
11/24 at Clemson
11/30 at Oakland
12/2 at Toledo
12/11 at Oregon
12/14 at #24 Baylor
12/16 at Wyoming
12/18 at TCU
12/23 at BYU

January 1 is the first home game of the season against Southern. 13 straight road games to start the season. Bus rides are a rough place to study. They will be riding buses more than flying.

Aren't all those pay to play games the way they finance their basketball program ??

Really tough pre-conference schedule. Reminds me of a team I used to know that didn’t schedule not one, but two teams which rank below 300. Even winning those games hurts GU’s RPI.

Admire Texas Southern’s guts, and hope to see them make the NCAAs again.

The thing about that non-league schedule, though, is that they are going to win some of those games. At least the schedulers didn't given them Duke, Michigan State, Kansas, Florida, Gonzaga, Texas A&M.......all in a row.

It is a way to finance their athletic dept. Same with all the SWAC schools. The truth is that the SWAC over the past 25 years has produced a number of 16 seeds who were probably 14 seeds. But if you play 13 straight road games, you are going accumulate too many losses to escape the 16 seed.

TSU basketball gets to keep all the money that they receive. No sharing with any other sports at their school.

I'm seeing 3-4 wins there. I hope for 5, but probably closer to 2-3.
