Great read about Ira. Mods feel free to move this, but wanted it to get exposure. Glad to see he is doing well for himself. Top 5 high flyer

I had no idea of the hardship Ira grew up with. What an amazing guy.

He's a hero. Damn! GU always finds a way with kids. They just have to be open to grace.

Great article. Ira plays for Japan's national team now that he's a citizen. Seems to me very likely we'll see him and Rui playing together in the near future...this summer. How cool would it be if those two Zags helped earn Japan a spot in the Olympics!?

Played a pickup game vs IRA a couple years back with his wife watching on the bench. Great guy.

Interestingly Ira is teammates with Rob Sacre on the SunRockers.

Even more interesting Sacre is shooting 41% FG% as a 7ft'er in the J-League. Take a look.

That is horrid, no matter how you look at it.

Brown on the other hand looks pretty darn good compared to Rob.

That's what I was thinking as I read this. Amazing what he had to go through. I'm proud of him and our amazing head coach for giving kids like Ira a chance. What an amazing story!

So heartwarming to read about Ira's life story ... and he is still a young man with so much ahead of him. Glad he found his soulmate. Nothing in life is guaranteed ... Ira had to overcome some overwhelming obstacles from his childhood to get to where he is now. Don't we all know that his experiences and lessons learned at GU no doubt are serving him well.

Sorry for the platitude ...but ..." The true measure of a person is not what they accomplish, but what they overcome ".

What a inspirational person... I believe Goodson was not born on third base either..

I fell down on the job of tracking IRA in FIBA this summer. He did a nice job for Japan, as you can see from his page on the FIBA site. http://www.fiba.basketball/asiacup/2017/1408/Japan-Korea

And, OMG, check out this photo! Ira has to have the best physique of any Zag ever!
