All we have to do now is keep Verne Lundquist from calling us "Georgetown."

I tell people to pronounce ZAG, then they'll know how to pronounce GonZAGa. We're surely not the ZOGS.

In late 2015, when our CFO (BYU undergrad/MBA) joined our company, he pronounced it "Gun-Zaah-Gah." With a smile, I corrected him and he's gotten it right ever since.

Couldn't blame him.

All he has to know is three letters.

Agree that the best way it to tell someone that we say GO ZAGS. Not GO ZOGS
I had a Commander at Fairchild who thought it was funny to mispronounce it and he only stopped doing it when I started to refer to his beloved sport as "NACE CAR" nice rhymes with "pace".... he quit after that.

I have a friend that loves to agitate me by intentionally mis pronouncing Gonzaga, Spokane and now Karnowski. I have found that ignoring him until he says it correctly is the best approach.

Gotta admit, I don't even notice. I figure that enough people know the real pronunciation, the ones that get it wrong sound like idiots. But, I don't notice.

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE LINK THIS TO MATT SANTANGELO. EVERY GAME THIS SEASON HE HASN'T SAID THE NAME OF HIS OWN SCHOOL ONCE CORRECTLY. sorry for caps. It's literally the biggest pet peeve for someone who should know better.

I don't care how they say it. The fact that so many people need to say "Gonzaga" and are mispronouncing it is still good to me

Let them mispronounce it. It let's us know who the spies are. ;)

Nice job!

Silly issue. Move on.

To be fair, the title to this thread should be, "Pronounce it correctly."

Softy was purposely mispronouncing Gonzaga and Oregon on his show yesterday to agitate the fanbases he dislikes.

He explained why he was doing it to Ken Bone who came on for an interview and Bone said something like "oh that's ok, I know this is a tough time of year for you guys" :p

Silly issue. Move on.

silly issue? not really...since I recall Dan's presser after the UCONN game in PHX---giving pronunciation lessons at the table----it's been almost 20 years---that's what's silly, if anything

Nice job!

If you go looking around youtube right now, there are all sorts of great little new videos from S-R and other entities about the Zags.

Silly issue. Move on.

I posted the video mainly because I thought it was amusing more than as a personal statement of outrage about how much Gonzaga is mispronounced.

To be fair, the title to this thread should be, "Pronounce it correctly."

Um, I think he was joking.

Um, I think he was joking.

Could be. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

The thread title's punctuation mark has been corrected so as to not confuse, and apparently, outrage certain posters.

It's pretty obvious from the video that it was just a humorous take on a common point of confusion.

It would be funny if they sold those t-shirts at the final 4 stadium. Jerseys as well. May be even ball caps.
