Just booked my flight!

Win, lose, or draw…doesn't matter at this juncture.

We made the promise land! Final 4 baby!

I'm there to honor the accomplishment as a fan and alum and family. The next game is gravy.

We did it. Amazing. Surreal.

This will last a lifetime for me and for every Zag who plays or have played for us.

Booked flights today. Glad to be living in the midwest right now as I can only imagine flights from the Northwest skyrocketed after both GU and Oregon won today. Prices were better than I expected from Chicago. Just hope to get tickets from GU later this week.

Every school gets an allotment. I assume they first offer tickets to Bulldog Club members with travel packages until they sell enough of the packages. Once they do that, if there's any left I assume they'll offer them to the general public as each school has to sell a certain # of tickets per NCAA rules.

Driving from San Jose......with quick pit stop in Orange County for clothes.

Talked to Zag fans in hotel last night and flights to PHX tough from GEG.....some will fly to So Cal and drive over.

Not uncommon problem for Super Bowl. Only so many slots for planes.

Bump.

And +1.

Traveling with 5 alumni, including myself.

Looks like single game tix are around $300, all session are around $600 a head. Trying to do better. Will ticket prices increase or decrease as more hit the market with large fan bases losing (Arizona, UNC or UK, Kansas)?

I wrote a long post but it's gone, so I must not have sent it. The Cliff's Notes version is that I would consider staying in Scottsdale and driving to Glendale for the game. Scottsdale has better nightlife, golfing, restauarants, etc and is just better set up for tourism. Old Town Scottsdale is pretty off the hook if you want to live like a college student again :)

Their tourism site, Experience Scottsdale is worth checking out. You can also PM me for testauarant ideas. (I live in the area and my wife is a bit of a foodie).

For those who are in "very early middle age" like me, passing up this opportunity would be insane. With all due respect to some of the more hopeful fans on this site who no doubt predict back to back to back to back to back GU appearances in the FF over the next 3 years going forward, I am not entirely confident that this opportunity will come by a lot more times in my lifetime.

The Lovely Mrs. '75 complained a bit about the cost of flying from PDX and the Scottsdale hotel and the game tickets until I mentioned the following quote:

There is a tide in the affairs of men.
Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune;
Omitted, all the voyage of their life
Is bound in shallows and in miseries.
On such a full sea are we now afloat,
And we must take the current when it serves,
Or lose our ventures.

And if this is not the opportunity to "take the current when it serves, Or lose our ventures", I don't know what is. And of course, in addition to wooing her with the beautiful quote from Shakespeare, I had to promise to mow the lawn, attend all her family reunions, and never spend another penny on GU games or gear again for the next 3 years.

But they taught me how to negotiate in law school - hopefully including after-the-fact negotiations.

rennis,
You may want to also check out a round trip through Las Vegas and driving to Glendale.

Las Vegas to Glendale = 288 miles (same distance as Kirkland to Spokane), 4 Hours 54 Minutes driving time per mapquest. Most of it is Highway 93 (not interstate), hence, the extra time.

The air fare is much less than flying into Phoenix or Tucson.

Disclaimer. Check it out for yourself. The way airline ticket prices change by the minute (higher or lower), who knows what they are going for at the moment.

Best of luck. And, if you do so,.... Drive Safe.

It's a pretty drive. You also can make a diversion to the Grand Canyon or a short pit stop at the Dam. Pat Tillman bridge sped up this drive quite a lot and is a bit of an engineering wonder (it is incredibly high up in the air). If you want to stay all-highway, I would cut east on the Carefree Hwy at the end instead of continuing south and driving through urban sprawl.

I was hemming and hawing about whether to go, especially after almost all my buddies had purchased tickets BEFORE the Xavier game. They knew they could cancel by midnight Saturday. They're smart.

Like many of you I saw airfare prices rising and talked myself out of it. $1000 for a roundtrip?

Then my 10 year old said, "you only live once Dad."

That's all it took and I got back on the computer, got creative and purchased a one way ticket into the Mesa airport and a one way ticket back to Seattle. Came out extremely good on the cost.

See you my Zags in Phoenix! Let's go get this!!!

Not bulldog club members though so can't get tix through the school it looks like. have been looking on vivid seats and stub hub. also wondering about just showing up and trying to buy outside the arena but have to say that makes me feel nervous. how are other non bulldog club members getting their tix or what are your plans?

also if anyone is a bulldog club member and not buying your full 6 allotment, i'm up for 2 of yours - including a couple drinks while down there! I know you don't know me, but maybe my 2007 join date on this site is good enough reference!

also, does anyone know: if you join as a new bulldog club member are you guaranteed option of buying 2 tix in GU section or just giving yourself a possibility that you'll have a chance.

Yes, I made a $250 donation yesterday to the Bulldog Club and was able to order 2 tickets a few hours later and got confirmation of the order. The schools usually get lower/second level sideline tickets to distribute to their donors/alumni so I would strongly recommend this route versus the price gouging that goes on at Stubhub or Vivid Seats. You do have to buy both games from the school though, so if you wouldn't want to go to the championship if GU doesn't make it, then Stubhub could be a better option as price do usually dip for Monday depending on which team wins and especially likely this year with none of the teams really an easy day trip from if they advance to the final.

Due to cost, scheduling complexity and some other issues I had decided that I would sit this out and watch from home, just a bit too pricey.

Then I had a work meeting today and a friend started talking about how he to this day he regrets that he did not take advantage of seeing his beloved White Sox win the World Series in 2005. One other person chimed in that you'll regret it forever if they win

Back to my desk and Southwest has a $63 flight from Chicago to Phoenix on Sunday night. Would only need 2 nights hotel instead of four. Southwest can cancel for credit on a future flight and tickets for the final are only $145 (granted nosebleeds) on the resale market [hoping as a single might get a decent seat]. $90 rental car for two days. Will figure out the game ticket and lodging when it happens.

Correct. Usually for the Final Four there's ticket pickup at the team hotel the Thursday or Friday before the games on Saturday too so you can get them before gameday if you want. Otherwise can pick them up at the stadium. This is from my experience going to a couple Final Fours as a UConn fan as well at least.

The upper level is sold through the NCAA ticket lottery months in advance of the final four so the teams most likely don't get upper level tickets to sell to their fans. Don't forget a standard basketball arena only has 25-35 rows in the lower level whereas a Final Four in a football stadium can have probably 75 rows in the lower bowl of the stadium plus the temporary risers they install for the rich of the rich to get from the normal stands to the court at midfield.

If you bought from GU I would be very surprised if you end up with anything worse than the 200 level in Glendale.

I didn't see an answer to this devout fan. Is there a water hole for before or after the game? I am here in Goodyear and will not be going to the game but would love to meet some of the people who are on this board when you are in town. I won't drive clear over to Scottsdale, traffic is terrible from Goodyear to there. Anything around the Dome that would work? I am not far from it. 100 level tickets are not all considered better than upper level tickets .....

Just got a round trip ticket from SeaTac to PHX for $237! Friday to Sunday. Who says feeding a newborn in the middle of the night doesn't have its benefits! I'm kinda delirious, so I keep checking the dates and locations to make sure I didn't make a mistake, seems too good to be true.

So,..... Let me see if I understand correctly. You joined GUB in October 2007 and this is your first post. I assume you have been reading GU Boards for ten years now and not once has another post riled you to the point that you felt the need to respond. That demonstrates an amazing level of self control. A quality that I admire. I hope we get the chance to meet in Phoenix so I can shake your hand.

Safe travels to you and your son. And oh..... Happy Birthday to your son! :)

Still looking for my ticket too. Any advice on the best way to go about it? I'm kinda a novice at doing this.

Having been to a few final fours with my dad and having sat nosebleeds--- even when the zags havent been in it--- my advice... pay the 250 bucks, get in the building and enjoy it. The atmosphere there is electric. Stubhub or Primesport.. those are two outlets to purchase tickets. Primesport is the official seller of final four tickets. You dont want to miss the chance at seeing the zags in their first final four. You wont regret it.

Thanks for the reply. It seems the nosebleed tickets are $500. I read somewhere that this is the second highest final four ticket price. Not sure why.
Long story short, I'm not looking for a steal, just the best value and the best way to purchase it.

Definitely agree about a zoo getting in. We were cutting it close because we flew in the morning. But we made it to our seats just as they started the intros and anthem.

Looking forward to making the GU pregame function tomorrow. Have 2 extra tickets to the pregame if anyone needs them. My friend and I both jumped on and bought them while the other one was asleep.

The Final Four is an official NCAA production whereas the Football playoffs are not. The College Football Playoff is not an officially sanctioned championship event by the NCAA, the sport's governing body, it's an offshoot of the bowl games. I'm guessing that is the reason.

JPtheBeasta

Gonna keister a shot of Jack Daniels tonight, or maybe make some toilet wine.

My understanding is that alcohol is available in the suites...

I've been to Cardinals games there several times and have almost been in fights on two trips. Maybe no alcohol is for the better0 but I think it had to do more with my Seahawks gear than anything else, though.
