You actually might be right. Good point. Even dating back before 1963, the teams that went undefeated winning each game by 10+ don't seem to have a conference opponent that was also ranked. However, the 1954 Kentucky team mentioned in the post had a ranked LSU team in their conference and played them in the SEC Playoff Game, LSU was ranked #8 at that time, but Kentucky didn't play them during the regular season.
