Love hearing opinions straight from Coach Few's mouth. Great article, again rebutting the idea that GU is overrated.

That was a terrific piece by John Feinstein, author of the best non-Zag-related sports book I ever read, "A Season on the Brink."

Great article. John Feinstein - about the best. Great find, thx for posting.

*Kyle Wiltjer, John - not "Kevin"

Here's a small excerpt I especially liked:

"Few bridled a little bit when he was asked this week in a news conference if he thought his team would be undefeated if it played in the Pac-12 or the Southeastern Conference.

“Question bothered me a little,” he said. “Look, our league has three very good teams — us, Saint Mary’s and BYU and a couple others that are solid. Is the Pac-12 deep beyond Arizona, Oregon and UCLA? The SEC’s got a couple good teams but it isn’t anything to write songs about. We’d lose some games in the ACC, no doubt, but everyone loses games in the ACC this year.

“I didn’t make us Number One. The polls did."

Nice article, worth a read!

‘You know what, I’ve still got some unfinished business here.’

Hopefully, by "unfinished business", he meant retiring from Gonzaga as the all-time winningest coach in college basketball history.

Winningest in all of D-1 is totally out of the question. He would likely need another 650ish wins to pass Coach K so even if he averages 28 wins/season we are talking about Few coaching another 23 seasons or so. No chance he will still be on the bench in his late 70s. I do think a reasonable goal could be passing Dean Smith at 879 which would be incredible

And not the 1st time they've been rated #1.
