If you're looking for a brief distraction prior to the Kansas - Kentucky game, at 2:40pm PST there's a horse race ( on NBC ) at Gulfstream Park. $12 million purse, approx $7MM to the winner, $1.75MM to second, $1MM to third.
The entries sold for $1MM each and the race is for 4YO and up. The marquee match-up is KY bred Arrogate ( Mike Smith / Bob Baffert ) vs. CA bred California Chrome (Victor Espinoza / Art Sherman ). This will likely be Chrome's last race before retiring to the stud farm.

The last time these horses met was in November's Breeders' Cup Classic. They were 10.5 lengths clear of the field and Arrogate won by half a length. This afternoon's race could be as thrilling.

I was a swimmer in high school, mid 1960's. I tried that. Announced that it was my last race and I was going to 'stud'! I got no takers.

Arrogate was clearly the best. Chrome wasn't a factor.
