View Full Version : Just how good is Santa Clara?

Looking ahead .... in the week :) I'm keen on learning what Santa Clara brings to their court. Their scores thus far this season aren't shabby: http://www.santaclarabroncos.com/sports/m-baskbl/2016-17/schedule They've beat some teams by decent margins and stayed close to others (Arizona being one, losing 69-61 and Wazzu another, 69-68). They are doing pretty well at home; 7-3 and they beat Valparaiso in 2OT @ Valparaiso. The only team to score over 80 points on them was a hammering BYU gave them @ BYU; 89-59. Aside from the BYU game their scores seem to indicate that they are a tough team defensively and they bring it all 40 mins. The Zags/SC game @ SC could be a rather interesting WCC game.

They are undersized and lack depth, but they play hard. Jared Brownridge can keep them in games by himself, if he is hitting shots. If he has a bad shooting night, they don't have a lot of other offensive options.

David Stockton on Jared B. when JB was a freshman, "Oh what a player he is."

Maybe JB's the key then. Melson ought to give him a difficult time :)

Good enough to beat us if we let our guard down.

Not likely, it would bring the Wrath of Karno.

They have a much better coach and Brownridge has some help: Feagin, Hauser, and Kratch are all averaging better than 10 ppg.
