I think it was a pass for Melson from Perkins for the slam.
Thoughts!

No, but it was a sick finish by Melson.
You can tell it wasn't a pass because Perkins complained about the foul immediately.

It was a pass as much as Morrison called "glass" on his three against Oklahoma State.

Ahh, maybe that was part of the deception

Only Perkins knows and he's not talking.

Perkins threw it straight up so he wanted the foul or he wanted credit for setting up Melson. It's hard to know.

To call that a pass, then you would also have to believe Akron post-man Isaiah Johnson skipped breakfast this morning!

Looking at the replays over and over, I don't think Josh even saw Melson trailing the play.

Not a pass when it left his hands , but became a pass once the official scorer made it an assist!

And the dunk was actually Melson trying to pass it back to Perkins...

As Dickau said on the broadcast, the official scorer was feeling the Christmas spirit. . .

I think the official scorer should give him a missed shot as well as the assist.

The "official scorer" does not determine assists. The 3 person stat crew does that.

Well, from the horses mouth........the intent was to throw it off the glass to Melson for a dunk, but his arm got hit and the ball ended up where it did

So not a shot, and not really a pass....but definitely a bucket!

Looked like a pass to me after watching it many time in slow motion and a brilliant play it was.

All I can say is that I'm glad no foul was called. That would have voided the massive dunk.

Regardless, it was a great hustle play, great job getting the ball up anywhere, he likely was fouled, but even the ref knew it was too good a play to blow a whistle on. I think it was a pass.

Dixie's right. I know the truth. He threw it up in desparation trying get a 2 shot foul. Instead, Melson gave us thunder!
