Oct. 6, 2016

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Gonzaga women's and men's soccer programs both received the 2015-16 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) College Team Academic Award.

The NSCAA annually recognizes college and high school soccer programs that have excelled in the classroom, in addition to their work on the field. A total of 892 soccer teams (315 men, 577 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the NSCAA College Team Academic Award for the 2015-16 academic year.

Of that total, 221 schools had both their men's and women's programs recognized. Two West Coast Conference institutions -- Gonzaga and Saint Mary's -- placed both its men's and women's squads on the list. The Bulldogs boasted the best GPA among WCC women's and men's programs.

Gonzaga's women's soccer team earned the award for the eighth consecutive season, posting a 3.49 GPA over the 2015-16 school year.

On the men's side, the Zags were recognized by the NSCAA for the 14th consecutive season. They posted a collective 3.25 GPA.
