Wish he'd included each arena's seating capacity. Had some, but not all. Wonder what the overall average WCC seating capacity is with and without BYU.

It's nice to see the WCC listed as a Top Ten league.

Each description should have the caveat that states" findings based on when GU is playing, for all other games you can hear a pin drop"

i was there when we played them two years ago, and the band (+singers) was the best i've ever seen at a game. walked in and thought it was a cd being played. maybe your info is more recent, or maybe that isn't an every game thing... but that is the single thing i remember most about that entire trip, including the campus and the game itself.

Without BYU your talking less than 2500.

As an aside, BYU's capacity is only 400 seats short of Madison Square Garden. That's saying something!

I have been in a few of those "gyms" and I am thinking that the numbers MAY be inflated. They used to list K1's attendance at 4,000 and I am fairly confident that it did not hold 3,000

Great info. Interesting that Pacific ranks fourth in average attendance, only 200 behind SMC. That alone would make them a good addition to the league. USF doesn't bring much to the table in any aspect.

Didn't realize that the Marriott Center had reduced it's seating capacity to 19,000. It used to be near 23,000.

February 2015: BYU announces 3 major upgrades to the Marriott Center (http://www.deseretnews.com/article/865621590/BYU-basketball-announces-new-practice-facility-new-video-boards-and-upgraded-lower-bowl-seating.html?pg=all)

The plan for the lower bowl is to install the same blue, cushioned seats currently found on the north side of the arena to cover the entire lower bowl. When the renovation is completed, the Marriott Center will hold 19,000, a decrease of approximately 1,900 seats from the current capacity of 20,900.

April 2012: BYU Marriott Center upgrades seating (http://universe.byu.edu/2012/04/13/byu-marriott-center-upgrades-seating/)

The most noticeable, and audible, change, will be to the seating capacity of the Marriott Center. The current capacity of the Marriott Center is 22,700, making the arena one of the largest basketball arenas in the country. The renovations will lower the amount of available seats by approximately 1,800 seats, with a new capacity of 20,900 close to the capacity of Energy Solutions Arena (capacity of 19,911).

Pacific would typically average about 3,500. It wasn't until recently that they fell below 3,000 per game.

Thought it would be interesting to compare these numbers vs capacity and attendance when each school hosted Gonzaga last year:

School - Capacity - Avg Att - Gonzaga Att

BYU - 19,000 - 14,699 - 18,987
LMU - 3,900 - 2,221 - 3,422
Pac - 6,150 - 2,406 - 4,309
Pep - 3,104 - 1,572 - 3,210
Port - 4,852 - 2,385 - 4,852
SCU - 4,500 - 1,763 - 3,121
SMC - 3,500 - 2,611 - 3,500
USD - 5,100 - 1,986 - 4,076
USF - 5,300 - 1,524 - 3,253

Not that it was something we didn't already know, but WCC opponents definitely pay attention to when Gonzaga comes to town.

Lol Portland. You know they are hitting capacity because of GU fans. No other gym his capacity.

Edit: apparently Pepperdine exceeds capacity.

I think Pepp has SRO space. I thought USF did too... not sure it still will with renovations.
