he tears it up every year for them.

Last year, he averaged around 18ppg.

When playing pick-up games or for the Dutch team, he drives to the hoop like a boss!

He barely dribbles at Gonzaga. Minutes will be hard-pressed next season, but hope Alberts sticks around.

He's only a Sophomore, and could see him doing big things as a Junior and Senior. 6'5", such a smooth shot, underrated athleticism (some say best dunker in practice), and seems like a smart bball player. Not turnover prone.

After Mathews graduates, Nigel moves on, I think he'll find himself back in the rotation and playing a significant role....if he sticks it out.

His role was pretty well defined as the 4th or 5th option on the weak side. With KW and DS his role was not to break people down on the dribble. His opportunities depended upon the ball be moved and with our strength down low that did not happen. That being said he also was hesitant to pull the trigger. Few's mantra for all shooters has always been to seek your shot, many times he was invisible. I agree with you as his game has a lot of upside, but sometimes it is difficult for players to find their rhythm in limited minutes.

Bryan Alberts' 22 points (five 3s) helped Dutch Young Lions in win vs Belgium U23 #Gonzaga

Translated article

"YOUNG LIONS REVENGE

The Young Lions have taken tonight in Sint Niklaas revenge for the defeat a day earlier against Belgium U23. Due to a very strong and intense played third quarter the Lions booked a big victory in the U23 team of Belgium: 60-77.

Head coach Tone Helfteren had his starting five for the second part of the trilogy adapted in one position. Instead of Dexter Hope opened the Netherlands Maarten Bouwknecht. The other quartet (Yannick Franke, Albert Bryan, William Fire District and Jito Cook) remained unchanged.

The first quarter was for the Belgians. After ten minutes the visitors looked at a 21-16 deficit. In the second period the Young Lions put in a catching up. Especially Bryan Alberts was floated by in this quarter ten points, including three three-pointers. With five points Jito Cook also did cents. Netherlands B kept the Belgians twelve points this quarter and sat there myself 23 opposite, resulting in a 33-39 lead at halftime.

In the third quarter the Young Lions played excellent. It was played with great intensity. Especially defensively was fine. Belgium scored in this quarter only four points. The Young Lions offensive work came mainly from Thomas van der Mars (six points) and Kadeem Pantophlet (five points). 4-20 was achieved through a large lead 37-59 after three quarters.

The last quarter went to Belgium, even with the smallest possible margin: 19-18. Alberts and Pantophlet names in this quarter both five points on their behalf. In the match with 60-77 and won the Young Lions were this time accounts for eight three-pointers. Where the Belgians Tuesday ten three-pointers hit popped, they were now no more than three bombs away.

Scores: Bryan Alberts 22 (5 three-pointers), Thomas van der Mars 14, Jito Cook 11 Kadeem Pantophlet 10 (2 three-pointers), Stefan Mladenovic 6 Yannick Franke 4 William Fire District 4, Dimeo van der Horst 3 and Maarten Bouwknecht 3 ( 1 three pointer)."

And Jito Cook seems too be a misleading auto-translation of Jito Kok (of San Diego) and William Fire District seems to be an autotranslation of "Willem Brandwijk".

Why didn't we recruit William Fire District? Best sports name since God Shammgod.

Wasn't Van Der Mars a 4 yr starter for Portland & all-WCC player? And Jok was a starter & major contributor for San Diego. Franke didn't play WCC but he's a force in Euro play.

Alberts is performing quite well vs proven/solid talent from around the globe.

He's only a sophomore!

So many posters have written him off or given up on him. I'm convinced he's a big time player for us I'd he sticks around 2 more yrs.

Remains to be seen whether Alberts will be able to find a way into the rotation at Gonzaga. I have hope, but although he was a freshman last season, Zags had little depth & Alberts only played 15+ min in 9 games, scoring 2 total points in his final 12 games (also did not play vs Syracuse or @ home vs Saint Marys), 0/13 from 3, 0/5 from 2, 2/2 from ft during that time. He was supposed to show that was a big, athletic, strong shooting point guard like Steven Gray, but hasnt shown much of the distributing side yet. Dranginis & Karnowski weren't a huge part of the rotation as freshmen either, but the 2012-13 roster was stacked. The 2016-17 roster could be more impressive

Would love to see full boxscores. Some players are better scorers than others. Jito Kok wasn't much of a scorer or rebounder at San Diego, but he did play significant minutes throughout his career. Strong shot-blocker though. Van der Mars was 1 of the better scorers & rebounders at Portland during his tenure, also playing significant minutes every year.

Only 1 player with dual nationality allowed on national teams for EuroBasket qualifiers. Bryan Alberts was essentially the runner up for that spot:
