WCC just announced it (http://wccsports.com/news/west-coast-conference-orleans-arena-announce-three-year-extension-05-12-2016). Deal runs through 2019.

Upgrades to arena as well --

As part of the new agreement for the tournament, The Orleans will make several venue enhancements, highlighted by the installation of a new center-hung high-definition video board. The arena will also install new LED lighting which will complement upgrades made over the past year, including three-sided shot clocks and LED lighting for the backboards. At The Orleans Hotel, attached to Orleans Arena, WCC fans will be offered affordable room rates in the newly renovated 1,885-room hotel through 2019.

I strongly disagree with this decision but as often happens, nobody asked me. Image is everything, and having our league image tied to the Orleans vs. some of the much nicer facilities available on the Strip seems like bad market positioning for the league. But when several of your member schools are content with gyms that no self respecting Seattle high school would play in, I guess it is not surprising that the league chooses a Vegas facility which strangely resembles the Econo-Lodge in Ephrata for their annual tournament.

Go Bulldogs!

I think they are being conservative by sticking with the Orleans -- probably waiting to see what will happen with BYU/Gonzaga -- if either of those schools leave the WCC -- they could be in a bad situation with the tournament attendance quickly.

I was hoping they'd move to the MGM now that the Pac-12 has moved along. It's just more convenient and easier to get to. But I won't be going until my 2-year-old is a lot older anyhow, so it doesn't make much difference to me. The Orleans looks just fine on TV, I guess.

Looks like Lynn Holzmann signed a deal for the tiniest venue. Disappointed when there were better options in Las Vegas, especially since the Orleans is a little on the ghetto side.

Orleans Arena - 7,741 seats (hockey arena, ~7,000 usable basketball seats)

MGM Grand Garden Arena - 12,916 seats (previously hosted the PAC12 Tournament)

Mandalay Bay Events Center - 12,000 seats (hosted Vegas 16 basketball tournament, a few UNLV basketball games, and Lakers pre-season games)

Thomas and Mack Center - 18,000 seats (hosts the MWC tournament 1 week after the WCC tournament)

T-Mobile Arena - 18,800 (new arena for the PAC12 tournament)

There is no Econo Lodge in Ephrata. Come now.

Why go for a bigger venue when we don't fill the one we have? The WCC just isn't big time enough for any of those other venues.

If BYU and The Zags leave the WCC, most any high school gym in Vegas will be far too roomy
for the WCC Tourney. ;)

Why have a pre-season tourney in Madison Square Garden when some of the games may only attract 5000 spectators?

Because it's about the TV money maybe.

Most people wouldn't even know how many are in the seats by watching TV the way they dim the lights over the crowd.

Big East MSG .......WCC Orleans

Sure looking forward to Hall of Fame game in Staples

Sorry, but I think you incorrect.

the WCC tourney has quickly sold out all of the tickets the last 3 years in a row. the WCC tourney could easily benefit from a bigger, 12,000 seat venue. The tickets would sell out.

Also, don't confuse ticket sales with actual butts in the seats. The only games at ANY conference tourney where the seats are all filled are at the later games (not all of the games). This is not unique to the WCC. That is how all conference tourneys are, especially in Las Vegas where the early games are mostly fans of the schools playing (see PAC12, MWC, and WCC).

I agree. Some fans are confusing attendance with ticket sales. The Orleans does not have enough tickets to meet demand.

No conference tourneys anywhere in the country have, or expect to have, every seat filled for every game. That's not how it works.

I'm sorry to say this . The issue was setted for us. My wife will not stay in the Orleans. Smelly and dark place with just a bad "feel" she thinks. MGM or something akin is much better. Just an opinion.

We stay at the Aria or Mandalay Bay -- and taxi to the games. We are not big fans of staying at the Orleans either.

Agree Zagdawg, there are lodging options for every taste and every wallet in Las Vegas.

Ephrata,PA .....

My wife used to live in Lancaster, PA...Lampeter Township to be exact.

I was hoping for a move to the MGM. The Orleans Arena is adequate and thanks to all the Zag fans, it looks good on TV. The hotel rooms are clean, but the casino is a dive.

what do you mean, more convenient?....you drive in, park and your at the arena in 5"....

its off the strip which is good....most people go up to Fremont anyway and its way easier to just drive there from the Orleans....

There were plenty of seats open for BYU/GU and GU/SMC. I just don't see the point of upsizing our tourney venue unless we want to PRETEND the conference is bigger/better than it is.

I think 2019/20 is a good point to revisit the venue decision. Perhaps more than 3 schools will be bringing fans to Vegas by then.

Rats. Had hoped the West Coast Conference would christen the new T-Mobile facility before the PAC-12 got their smelly seater-ends in there. :mecry:

I prefer not to drive in Vegas, because ... Well, because Vegas.

Raiders to Vegas? Did the WCC start a super trend? Runnin Rebs not the only game in town.

It doesn't get more convenient than the Orleans. I am in and out of all the card rooms and books several times a year.

The Palms Place is a 5 min walk. Floyd $ Mayweather owns a place there.

If you really need to ball out and spend 3-4 thousand a night on a room have the car service take you around.

The men's team usually stays at the Delano which is a part of Mandalay Bay for lack of a better description.

The women typically at Mandalay Bay.

we watch many games, girls and boys, and what is more convenient than watching non Gonzaga games, getting tired or bored, and going to your room to rest......no driving...no taxi's...no bus...we've done them all....

I always stay somewhere else when watching the zags at Orleans. The traffic around Orleans isn't bad at all, because its off the strip, and parking in front and back is plentiful.
