DANVILLE, Calif.--With the lowest score in relation to par in program history at 6-under-par 66, junior Ciera Min won the West Coast Conference Championships Tuesday at Blackhawk Country Club in Danville, Calif.

"It's pretty amazing to win today," Min said. "My one personal goal this year was to win a tournament, and for this to be my first win is awesome. Our team was so close to winning, and how we performed as a group definitely helps make this special."

After playing her first five holes at one-over, the Hilo, Hawaii native caught fire, playing the final 13 at 7-under-par for the win. Starting on Blackhawk CC's 10th tee box, she got back to even-par with a birdie on the par-5 15th and eagled the par-4 17th, making the turn at two under. After a bogey on No. 1, her 10th hole of the day, she birdied Nos. 2, 3, 5, 7, and 9 to storm into the lead for her first career tournament victory.

Min entered the round in a tie for ninth place with 150 strokes (+6), eight shots out of first place. The low score helped her reach even-par 216 for the tournament, her second-ever tournament at even par. She won the individual title by three strokes...

As a team, the Zags hopped up to second place with a three-day tally of 887 strokes (+23), picking up their first-ever win over Pepperdine at the conference tournament. Gonzaga leapfrogged the Waves thanks to a blistering 290 (+2), the lowest round on the day by eight strokes and fourth-lowest on the year. They ended the tournament just three strokes shy of team champion and 38th-ranked BYU, who counted 884 strokes (+20) on the tournament. Over the last nine holes, the Zags pressured the Cougars, holding steady at even-par while BYU took eight additional strokes to close out the tournament.

This is Gonzaga's third second-place finish in the last four years and fourth in the last six...

The Zags will learn their NCAA postseason fate on Monday, April 25, when the NCAA Regional fields are announced. That selection show will begin at 3:00 p.m. on the Golf Channel.
