I thought Iowa looked pretty ragged in their first game.

Still can't believe they won.

Shot horribly, played OK defense, but did not look very good to me.

We'd beat them just as we did last season.

I think 'Nova got tired of hearing about how they can't make it past the first weekend of the Tourney. Couldn't play much better than they did in the first half. 54 points at the break!

Another huge push missed by the refs. A ND guy comes in and completely shoves the SFA guy out of the way. Not near as obvious as the Iowa one though.

me too. ND got two whistles down the stretch after refs let them play all game, the over the back call--horrible call--and then the two FTs on the drive--horrible call, both whistled on the same SFA player who gets to where the horns instead of the hero medal for making two great plays

I thought the blocking call on the drive was the worst of all of them. I can sort of understand not calling anything in the scrum - SFA had guys hanging all over guys, too - the push was just another push in my book, but that block on the drive to the hole was just awful, I don't see how some are seeing that as legit - the kid was leaning into him the whole time!

great replay they showed on it too, Spanarkel mute of course. Had to look up the player, I didn't know who he was for SFA but I just felt awful for him. Came up huge for his team, earned it in the moment making the hustle plays down the stretch, gets nothing for it. Spanarkel didn't mention his name.

Syracuse looks like it is catching fire a bit.

If you reach the Sweet 16 then you are at least on a 2 game winning streak, but it does look like they are playing well and the ACC is tough this year (6 teams in the SW16 if Orange win). Hopefully the Zags spank them like they did with UCLA last tourney. If Sabonis stays out of early foul trouble the Zags will have a great chance to advance. MTSU is Not on fire.

I think I officially hate Wisconsin now. I'm sick of them.

What a monumental collapse by Northern Iowa.

Fun opening round of the Tourney, but Cinderella is pretty much dead now, unless you want to count Gonzaga. A 10 seed Syracuse and a 7 seed Wisconsin definitely don't fit into a glass slipper. For all the talk of most wide open year ever and a ton of early upsets, going into the 2nd weekend it's a lot of familiar names and close to chalk. So much for that.

That was some poor basketball by No. Iowa. If the No. Iowa player jumps up and tries to throws the ball straight up or high and towards his basket maybe he get's it out of the double without getting swatted or grabbed and the time would have expired in regulation. Or he could of tried to hold onto it in the corner and see if the refs would have called a foul, but instead he panicked. But why inbounds in the corner anyway? I feel bad for the Northern players.

I think it has been the best tourney, at least by my memory. Yeah, the cinderellas usually don't last long, but they still leave a major impact. I also still think it's wide open, but with 20 teams this year, not 4.

As far as the mid majors that didn't get in or barely did. Nobody's saying that they're top 16. But I would argue they're top 37 or whatever that at large number is. And many top 32 easily. I.e. Able to win a game or two in the tourney. (Not that you said that, just adding it)

10th place Pac 12 team UCLA thumped Kentucky in Pauley. 11th place Arizona St. beat Texas A&M by double digits in Tempe. So 10th and 11th place in the Pac beat the top 2 in the SEC. Both were at home, but that's gotta be worth something.
