This year will mark the 7th time that the Zags have been a double digit seed. They have won a 1st rd game 4 of 6 times an sweet 16 on 3 occasions.

This is remarkable.

Not really related, but the WSJ had a blurb today on teams that cause bracket carnage, ranking teams with at least 7 appearances since 2003 that underperform the "market" in terms of how far they really advance relative to how far the average Yahoo Tourney Pick 'Em Challenge predicted. Gonzaga ranked #10, with total wins of 14 vs. predicted wins of 18.18.

The worst? Georgetown, with 9 total wins vs. predicted wins of 16.71.

I was surprised most by the other big boys - Duke, Kansas, Syracuse, Ohio State were all among the top 10. Duke was #3, with total wins of 28 vs. expectations of 36.95

A little off double digit seed topic, but Gonzaga's results vs seeding has been:
14 wins when seed says we should have won,
13 losses when seed says we should have lost,
8 wins when seed says we should have lost, and
5 losses when seed says we should have won.
Looking forward to number 9 on Thursday.
