Anyone know for sure? I haven't seen anything concrete other than people saying they saw him around the casino yesterday on crutches.

Um, he's hurt. My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ryan on crutches last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

I have no idea if he is able to play tonight. I seriously doubt he does.

GU backup center Ryan Edwards (right knee) not expected to play tonight vs. BYU

And adding to the bummer: He has a 92 year-old relative who has never seen him play in college who made the trip out to Vegas.

Best line I've ever heard from Few in pregame with Hudson, r.e. Edwards injury:

"We now have only 2 players bigger than 6'4". We've lost 14' & 600 lbs."

Good luck to Edwards. Knee injuries are scary.

Has there been any speculation if he will play on Tuesday night?

He was sitting behind the bench all game, with his foot elevated. No way he plays.

Any way he plays in the NCAA if the Zags make it?

Here in sin city if you could bet on Edwards not playing the rest of the season, however long it lasts, I say that's a good bet! Sadly!

Any new info as to extent of Edwards injury and possibility he could play in the NCAA tourney?

I think Few knows that Kyle D. is only 6'4" in his bare feet.

mcl sprain is the word. no crutches and moved around fine in pre-game last night, delivering passes and such. my guess is he'll be available in a week and a bit.

hahaha. Hilarious! Makes it even funnier now that we don't have any pressure.

Hope Edwards get "rebound" quickly.

Even if he can only play effectively for a couple minutes each half to give Wiltjer or Sabonis a little resting time (or be available for a few strategic sub in/out minutes if Sabonis or Wiltjer got in foul trouble) that would be sweet.

Feels like house money now.

If Edwards can spell either Wiltj or Domas for a bit, that will do wonders.

Thanks, Zagdawg! I liked this:

Provided the Zags avoid the First Four on Tuesday, Edwards will have at least 12 days between his injury and the first NCAA game.

This is HUGE news, as far as I'm concerned. Those few minutes of rest Domas and Wiltj get are important. That we won on back-to-back nights against two really good teams on a neutral court...WITHOUT Ryan? Amazing.

Thrilled he'll be ok.

No way will they be part of the first four. Those typically are saved for either low majors or teams that sit in the last four in.

This. Smc will be the play in game.

I am reasonably sure that only four auto bids are allowed to be in the First Four games and those are always 16 seeds. The other two games are for the last four at large teams in the tournament.

Thanks for sharing.

It's unfortunate that he had his injury in more ways that one. Wonderful that his grandpa could make the trip!

Edwards had special motivation for the WCC tournament. His 92-year-old grandfather flew in from Butte to attend the tournament.

“Ever since World War II it hasn’t been his thing (to fly),” said Edwards, who averages 9 minutes per game. “On the day he flew it was his birthday. It means the world to me that he could come down for this.”
