    This Gonzaga Team

Early this morning I watched a replay of the Duke Clemson game. Both teams played very hard right until the last second of that game. The one trait we see that great teams have is the ability to finish and more specifically play the role of Hunter, not Hunted in those final minutes. We have seen our good Gonzaga teams of past fall into the Hunted category all too often at the end of games, however our current team seems to have that one characteristic which is refreshing.

IMO it is the energy and desire to win by Sabonis, MAC and Perkins that bring this critical element to the table for us. We have seen our guys keep the heat on right till the end. We have won some and lost a few but in those losses they were not afraid to take the shot even though they didn't always drop. This in spite of all the hand wringing we have had to endure is encouraging. The comeback win was awesome.

I think we're learning to be the hunter, but we weren't earlier in the season. Losing a big lead in the second half means we were the hunted. That happened all to often. Closing out the last few games and coming back shows we're transitioning to a hunter. But need to do it with higher level competition.

Now Domas, he's always a hunter!
