    Post game radio GU/WSU

Wiltjer hot at start 36-21 GU. GU had a 15 point lead also in the second half. WSU 2 for last 10 shots. Santangelo says game closer than you would think, strange things happen sometimes on the Palouse. Just never felt like the Zags were totally in control even though they led from start to finish. New career high for Perkins at 16. GU only 43% from the floor tonight, lowest shooting percentage of the season. GU 8-11 from the line. (Too bad we didn't shoot that against T A&M-my statement, not from the radio)!

Cougs first loss of the season. Karnowski practiced hard yesterday. Showed up this morning and couldn't go. Was moving around pretty gingerly during the course of the game according to Hudson. Zags win rebounding 43-33, Sabonis with 14. Longrus did a pretty nice job on Wiltjer in the second half. Refs weren't calling a lot of handchecks on Longrus and Wiltjer just wasn't getting many shot opportunities. Perkins hit a big three when it was 59-53 to up the lead to 62-53 and WSU really never threatened after that.

Tommy Lloyd-Karnowski a force with a lot of experience and you gotta cover him with a lot of guys. You look at the rest of your guys and say well, we gotta deal with it. Kyle came out, and forced them to change their playing rotation Hawkinson out but Longrus really did a nice job on Wilter, but he doesn't have Hawkinsons offense. Perkins did a nice job, He's got a lot on his shoulders at a tradition rich position at our program. He really stepped up. Melson took his first charge of the year. WE don't practice them very much but the refs have been calling them this year. We don't want to shoot more than 20 threes in a game and we had 16 in the first half so our guys did a nice job in the second half of not settling for the three. We didn't totally lose our way but Domas got a little frustrated and Wiltjer was throwing the ball away some. It'll be a battle against Arizona even though their big Polish guy is out. It's a special thing for our program to have a team like that in our building. We think Karnowski is just having back spasms and we thing with the right treatment he'll be ready to go and hey if he's not we'll deal with it. Edwards needed those minutes, it was nice to see that jump hook take a couple bounces and fall in. Hey is Karnowski isn't ready to go Ryan knows we need him and we trust him.

Melson has had a couple pretty good games in row. 6 rebounds and three steals. Santangelo said Melson's dad was really getting on him in the Bahama's telling him hey Silas you gotta go out and do it.

    That's pretty much it.

funny about melson's dad getting on him...maybe we can ask him to tell his son to pass more, haha...actually, i'm okay with his aggressiveness on offense as zags will need him to be a scoring 2 guard if they want to make a run this year...it's all about shot selection with him.
