But like with any sport in any tournament or playoffs, the best team doesn't always win it.

I actually agree. We make a few free throws and we play for the title. Need some growth, need some experience.

Haven't seen Cuse. You might be right BUT.......

Fairly bold comment, BZ, considering they haven't even played the title game yet. Would bet Wiltjer is the only Zag that makes the All-Tourney team ( if there is one ).

I think you meant to say Zags were the most inconsistent team in the Bahamas

That is probably true about the Zags team that played in the first half against UConn. The Zags team of the second half, not so much.

Not yet.

I suspect that they will be the best of these eight teams by March. I sure hope so.

A tale of two halves...

It just appeared to me that no one was looking to score those last eight minutes...no one wanted to take a shot...they all just passed the ball around the permitter and whoever said it, Kyle isn't Adam and we shouldn't expect him to be either...

The three best players on our team are KW, KD and DS and the others are going to have to catch-up for this team to achieve it seasonal goals...IMO

For the miles traveled and where we are in player development I am happy about the outcome. From a comparative point of view I felt we played only far but still better than the other teams. I would like to see two well played halts in one game though

Battle 4 Atlantis all-tourney team

Two Syracuse players made the Battle 4 Atlantis all-tournament team.

Trevor Cooney made the five-player team, while Michael Gbinije made the team and was also named the tournament's MVP.

The rest of the team included Texas A&M's Danuel House and Jalen Jones. The last member of the all-tourney team was Gonzaga's Kyle Wiltjer.

Syracuse shot 50% from 3pt.

Played great defense. Proved their new recruits and transfers are the real deal.

I feel 'Cuse was the best team and proved it. Champions.

Gonzaga was clearly one of the better teams, maybe the best, but we didn't prove it.

Gotta give credit to the first-place finishers.

My take is that we now have seen our team play some great competition so we have something to ponder with meaning now. We know this team will get the bugs worked out and be amazing this year as we go along. Not so sure we would have fared well against Cuse at this point. One shot away from being in that final. Happy on my end. Curious why we aren't seeing any Edwards at all. Seemed he stepped up last time he was on the floor.

He's in the Nunez role this year. Only gonna play if 2 of the Big 3 both pick up 2 fouls in the first half, or in mop up time.

does anyone have a link to Texas A&M board, and/or UConn board?
better yet, is there a short cut way to find college BB boards?
I can spend more than a half hour googling and not locate one

Pretty harsh. One Melson basket from top 5. Zona out?

Bobzag, I agree with your post. I had my doubts coming in, but the Zags were right there. As for the rankings, can't believe Arizona lost to Providence... Now really pulling for Texas A&M, Connecticut and Arizona (except against us) to finish strong!

Zeus didn't play.

Arizona could not stop Kris Dunn, yet not many can…

Also, no protection around the rim, whatsoever, besides Ryan Anderson.

Our bigs should have a field day, but Zona can still shoot and Ryan Anderson is a double-double nightmare.

basketball a fickle sport, but GU is punished the most from above list.

just read the comments section or tweets re: Gonzaga. All state we are overrated and not Top-15 worthy after losing to another RANKED opponent, while beating another.

Not one peep about Zona, Indiana, even UConn.

I pose the question to naysayers, then who should be ranked where? Is UNC's loss to UNI worse than TAMU? What about all the ranked opponents losing to unranked? Still…they answer they don't know, but Gonzaga doesn't pass the 'eye test'.

So much hype and media plays a part in this, not to mention, many people think good basketball teams require alley-oops, trick shots, dunks, and out-of-control drives to the hoop.

That isn't good basketball and rarely is consistent. Lower % shot and chances with "crowd pleasing" plays. Much like Mark Few says, why the no-look pass, when you can have 10 TO-free passes?

I swear, watch a highlight of Gonzaga games.

We will win, but they only show the numerous dunks and oops from the opponent, followed by a pick n pop shot by Wiltjer.

Fueling people to write, "Gonzaga should have lost! Fluke shots. Can't handle athletes. They don't look or play like a ranked team."

Same fluff every year.

GU wins games, not highlight awards.

Without playing Syracuse I hugely disagree. Who knows how we would have matched up. Syracuse won the tournament give them credit. And I don't wanna hear nothing like "oh gonzagafan62 you're disrespecting BobZag" cuz I'm not. I'm just respectfully disagreeing. Phantom calls in A&M game? Yes. But we had a shot to win the game and blew it. Oh well. We will get back on track. Huge 20 day stretch begins now. Go damn zags

North Carolina at number 8 is a complete freakin BS ranking if I ever saw it. They are no good like I've been saying since day 1. B freakin S
