GU takes third, after holding on, as the offense goes stagnant. The momentum switched and switched in a hurry and it was looking bleak until Dranginnis stepped up for the big bucket. All the 50-50 balls were going to the Huskies, and the rebounds and the Zags escaped as Dranginnis got a late big steal as well. Wiltjer with 17 and Mclellan with 15, Sabonis and Melson with 12. Zags outrebounded by one 37-36. Zags 45% from the field, UConn 42%. Zags 10 threes to UConn's one. Uconn 17-20 at the line, Zags 7-11.

Zags now 4-1, had a great first half. UConn went to the zone with the Zags up 8, Wiltjer hit a couple threes and UConn back out of the zone. Zags led by as much as 21. You're 48-27 and you're feeling really good but it doesn't take much, a couple bad shots, a couple missed free throws, and then you get conservative and slow it down and by that time UConn had all the momentum. 67-53 with 7:30 left and all GU did after that was make a couple free throws and you could see Texas A&M again and then Dranginis made the big time play at the end making that late in the shot clock bucket. UConn had one final chance and Purvis three went off the backboard. Field goal drought went 7 minutes at the end. That is gonna have to be broken down in the film and too much passing the ball around the perimeter and all of a sudden you're at the end of the shot clock. Those are the things that can be cleaned up by the coaching staff.

Michaelson-First 22 minutes were fantastic. Good on the glass. Coach Ollie changed things up. UConn destroyed us on the glass in the second half, very disappointing. Drangannis defense on Hamilton great. Made winning plays down the stretch. Sabonis very talented and tough, frustrated yesterday. We knew he wanted to respond today. McClellan made some threes, got to the basket, hold Purbis their best scorer to 12 which Michaelson was happy with. He hopes this game will teach the Zags they can win the close ones and the tough ones. We felt like if we could shut down their threes we could win and we did that. UConn is a really good man to man team. UConn is a single digit loss NCAA team and for us to have a big lead like that on them is significant and then we were able to hold them off.

Interesting about McClellan was a stat line with no assists, but no turnovers, and he was put in a tough position having to take over for Perkins.

Based on 116's report, jazz, it's Hudson who put out that spin. . .no different than any other "homer" announcer.

Hmm, ok Reen. Stil Coach M really praising Uconn deflects nicely the near choke job.
