Bulldogs last shot doesn't fall. Desperation 2 from Melson. Highly competitive game, GU out 20-14 but we looked at each other (Hudson and Santangelo) and said hey this team (A&M) is really good. Aggies came out and made a run at the start of the second half. In the last 5 and half minutes the only Zag point was a Karnowski free throw. A lot of credit to the Aggie defense, they didn't let the Zags get into any kind of flow Few wanted, particulary late in the game. Zags 4-11 from the free throw line. GU did a good job of holding down some of the Aggies better players like Davis and Gilder but Trocha Morales and House carried the load. Zags did a nice job on the boards 35-26, but the end of game scoring drought and the poor performance at the free throw line were costly. Aggies plus 9 at the free throw line.

Both teams biggest leads were seven points and a much cleaner game than yesterday. Far less free throws. Both teams did a really good job of game prep considering the short turn around time. GU was having a lot of difficulty getting into their offensive sets until Perkins decided to step it up in the second half. Santangelo liked the fact that GU didn't call time out at the end of the game when it was apparent what they had called in the timeout was not going to work. (Matt must have forgotten there were no timeouts left). Sometimes going with a broken set leads to a mismatch but a 6'7" House on Melson made for a really difficult last shot for Silas.

McClellan played but 15 minutes today as the staff decided to go with Melson, even in crunch times. It was just never there for Sabonis today. He kind of lost his composure today. It was just one of those days. 9:30am tip tomorrow for the third and fourth pace game. Not much bench play in this game. I think Alberts got 5 minutes,Sabonis sat a lot with foul trouble and Melson. That was as deep as the bench got today. Though the Zags didn't score a field goal in the last 5 plus, A & M was 2-13 on their last 13 shots of the game. That from two teams that shoot very well. Still GU shot 50% in the second half.

Michaelson-We rebounded really well, shooting inconsistent, defense at the start of the second half poor. And free throws bad. Perkins was really good in the second half. That's how we needed him to be and that was really encouraging. Sabonis obviously frustrated, he's a tough kid and we'll show him how to clean up some of those fouls. He's a tough kid and he'll bounce back. There was some pretty good growth this afternoon despite the loss, we really had to battle back twice from some deficits in this game and we did. Tomorrow will be against very quality opponent, it won't be easy tomorrow. We talked to the guys about that yesterday. You have to be ready to go regardless of the outcome of this game.

Hudson-Defense was really good in this game and House and Troche Morales made some really tough shots in this game. A&M shot 55% in the first half, 30% in the second. The real difference in this game was the free throw shooting. That's about it.

Thanks as always. But quite a bit of spin from the braintrust. Making it sound like we were playing the Warriors.

The part about bouncing back quickly and having to play a good opponent regardless of today's outcome is so true. In some ways, losing one of the semifinal games in a tournament like this is worse than getting upset in the first game and ending up in the loser's bracket. If the Zags don't recover quickly, they could easily leave the Bahamas 1-2. Getting upset in the first game at least gives you a really good chance of getting out of there 2-1.

What in particular do you consider spin?

What in particular do you consider spin?

Classic. Forget the game, look ahead. No self examination. Build up your opponent and imply we were darn lucky to stay with them. Blame Sabonis, not your bone headed offensive sets in the last two minutes. Classic. Do I need to go on? Like pornography, you know spin when you see it. Aside, that three point shot at half was telling. Like it ever was.
