Except for a few players such as the newcomers, you could just have looked at last years rosters as most didn't lose or gain any weight. haha

Interesting, looking over that roster, that many are suggesting a 9 player rotation, and I think thats probably right. That leaves the three walk-ons and the three transfers. All the eligible players on schollie are probably in the rotation.

Did Melson grow an inch or two?
For reading the GU Board at least five times per week for the last 8 years, I have to admit Jeremy Jones flew under my admittedly poorly informed radar. Was he injured last year? Because he Redshirts for us does that automatically mean he received a full scholarship? Just asking because I don't know ..... I realize many readers know the answers to these questions, but I would like to learn.

Quick answer is Jeremy is a 6'6' wing that also played football last year for Rice. He'll RS this season and be eligible next season. Stats don't have a big enough sample size to make any comparisons. Two sport athlete would indicate to me he has a good degree of athleticism. A year under Travis and playing a year under Few's system and he should be ready to go.

There is a thread on second page about half-way down with much more info.

A pretty good video that I had not seen before. Nice hops, decent handles and can step out for a 3. What's not to like.

He is a transfer and will sit out this season.

Sure is nice to see a little more height out around the 3 point line. Nothing against Pangos, Bell and Stockton. I'm just saying.

yup, 40% shooters that are short are worthless.

JK, maybe this crop will have the physical attributes to actually guard the three line instead of getting shot over again and again and again

Ranked #115 in 3 pt defense last year with opposing teams shooting 33% against us--

Pepperdine ranked #2 at 27%

With the transfers sitting out, am I correct that we really have 9 guys that we can count on next year or am I missing someone? (Alberts, Dranginis, Edwards, Karnowski, McClellan, Melson, Perkins, Sabonis, Wiltjer)

That looks to be correct.

The 9 man rotation was said to be an almost sure thing last year and it was for the first half of the season, then become more like a 7-8 in the last 1/3, Nunez took a hit - but I think it is normal for teams with depth to 9 guys to tighten down to 7, maybe 8 in the last part. At least that's what I'm told.

Two questions:

When was the last time we had a recruiting class (not including walk-ons) that featured no true freshman, even including those who planned to redshirt ? I realize that we had two big time transfers, but what does that say about the recruiting strategy for this season?

Just found out if you click on name in roster it gives you a profile of the player clicked on.Quite informative I am probably last one to realize this.

meh, we are so full at each position with talent that seemingly will be here for another year or two that the only recruits we were going to realistically get were transfers that couldn't play this year. Thats also why big time 2016 guys are signing up, cause the landscape is set for us to need them then, not now.

At least this way we'll have to hear less comments about so and so being in the "dog house" this season.

That we're loaded and we have great players stepping in next year already lined up?

So, is Doug Wojcik on the staff or not?

Wojcik is a part of the program, but he is not taking one of the 3 assistant coach positions. His role has yet to be announced. One of his sons is a pretty good basketball player and has enrolled as a freshman at G-Prep
