I spoke with Jesse's mom on Friday and she gave me the thumbs up to post the link to the blog she is doing for family and friends to follow Jesse's experiences each week on his mission to France! The website address is elderjessewade.blogspot.com. Jesse has already been out for nearly two full months and just got to France this last week! His first area is in Nice, France right on the southern coast by Monaco, about 35 minutes south of the Italian border. If you would like to send him an email to say hello or just wish him luck on his mission you can email him at jesse.wade@myldsmail.net Having served an LDS mission myself to Argentina, I can tell you that LDS missionaries LOVE to get mail/email! Go Zags!

Great to hear that Jesse is in France and doing his mission that is important to him. He seems like a very grounded and mature young man. It will be nice to hear how everything is going although I'm not sure how personal emails from strangers would be so I think I will hold off on that...

Update:

"So on Saturday we woke up and actually played basketball with some non
members and stuff. It was so fun. Haha I dunked it and they started
calling me Dwayne wade and then one of the members looked up my
highlights and sent it out on his Facebook and next week he said a
bunch of his friends will come to play!"

This kid is so mature. Gotta love his passion and love of his church! I love this type information..I think it helps with the stereotypes of his church for those that aren't members!

It sounds like Jesse has time to exercise and play some basketball. He should come back to GU without much rust. Might not have the best competition, but playing with guys like Haws isn't bad at all.
love his enthusiasm for life.

Maybe he can get Haws to decommit and come to GU.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that there is a ZERO chance of that happening....LOL

Maybe he can get Haws to decommit and come to GU.

He's getting some playing time in. Liked this comment from week 15

"First off, it was the best ball I've played in France yet! Like 3 of
the Nice professional team players were there and another guy who just
signed a contract with another team in France and we just balled haha"

Nothing lights my fire more than following a Mormon's missionary experiences.
Except maybe a really good single malt Scotch.

It sounds like Jesse is enjoying himself and doing Gods work, But I see a lot of Ice Cream and rolls in these pictures, I hope he does not get out of shape by the time he hits GU. All the walking helps!

Thanks. So when the above entries refer to "Elder" Wade, are they referring to our new recruit's father? I assume so, because if they are not, then perhaps this is just a blast of Mormon religious nonsense into the otherwise overpopulated world of Catholic religious nonsense?
Amen.

I may be wrong, but I think Elder Wade is Jesse Wade, our recruit, and that is how they refer to themselves and each other when they are on a mission.

That's correct. "Elder" is the title used by Mormons on mission.

BYU fans can't stand that Jesse chose GU, but he's happy to recently celebrate his 2-year commitment anniversary. Jesse just relocated to Corsica:

Magic going on with BYU basketball? Have I missed some amazing explosion?

Magic going on with BYU basketball? Have I missed some amazing explosion?

You didn't. BYU fans are rightfully worried about Gonzaga getting a pipeline in Utah. I actually BYU as an academic institution, and the fact that a university shares my faith and standards. Having said that, from an athletic perspective it would present an interesting dilemma if they, all of the sudden, don't have a surplus of LDS kids accepting scholarships athletically. Especially, if these are also kids that are serving missions first.

Jesse Wade is LOVING the island of Corsica. Sounds like he is playing basketball almost every week and staying in great shape. He gets emails from the coaching staff nearly every week. His mom has WEEK 27 up on the blog at: http://elderjessewade.blogspot.com/2015/11/week-27-livin-life.html?m=1

As I mentioned before, I am a member of the LDS Church and have a son that was very good friends with Jesse even though we are from different schools. My son is on a mission as well. THE HOLIDAYS ARE USUALLY VERY DIFFICULT FOR MISSIONARIES TO BE AWAY FROM HOME AND LOVED ONES SO SEND JESSE AN EMAIL TO WISH HIM WELL FOR THE HOLIDAYS!! His email address is Jesse.wade@myldsmail.net! Go Zags and Go Utes as we are Utah fans as well!

The Gonzaga Bulldogs Are Looking Forward To The Return Of Jesse Wade From His Mission

“They get 30 minutes to an hour everyday that is their personal time. Jesse does a lot of jump rope and lifts with bands and other strength tools during that time. The honest truth of it is, at the end of the two years, it will definitely take a lot of work to get back into playing shape. A lot of the BYU players, like TJ Haws, who was in the same area on his Mission as Jesse, take time to get back into playing shape.”

Jesse Wade has always seemed determined to join the Zag's. I see no reason to doubt him just because BYU also has a good team. The Zag's aren't chopped liver.

Reading about his travels reminds me that one great benefit of being a Zag fan is the opportunity to extend your knowledge of geography and travel tips. Corsica has some nice beaches!
