Gonzaga has been mentioned as one of Killian Tillie's top suitors for months. Latest update I found was that Gonzaga & Utah were in a recruiting battle over him. Depending on where you look, Killian is listed between 6'7 & 6'9 and a SF or PF. From what I've seen, he looks like he could fit in an a '3' quite well. He's very versatile and lanky, with shooting touch out to the perimeter, blocks shots with ease, and rebounds very well. Eurohopes ranks him as the 9th best (http://www.eurohopes.com/rankings/1998) 1998-born Euro prospect

He was named 1 of the top prospects at the 2015 Adidas Next Generation Tournament:

Killian Tillie (http://www.nbadraft.net/players/killian-tillie) - 6-9, PF, 1998, (U18 INSEP PARIS, FRA)

Utah and Gonzaga are in a recruiting battle over this kid. Didn't play as much because France is stacked at the position, but is one of the top 1998 post player prospects in Europe. Was mobile and active when he saw time on the floor. Blocked some shots, rebounded the ball. Sort of a Sabonis-lite in terms of style.

Killian played with the France 3x3 squad which knocked off USA today on their way to a bronze medal. Here's 1 of his highlights from this week:

This is one kid that could play the 3 or the 4. Athletic enough with quick feet to play the 3. Would be a nice prospect to develop.

NIce body control for a 6 ft 8 or 9 in kid. Needs some Wendy burgers or TACOS is mass quantity. Seriously though, I hope we get him. He's very good now with lots of upside. Duke, if they go hard will likely count him as their own come 2016.

Seems like a fairly raw prospect, but his mobility and athleticism are undeniable. If this kids has the work ethic, in concert with good coaching, he could be a great get. Gets my vote!

Tillie would be a great get....

I like another on the list 1998 list. Isaiah Hartenstein. His dad played for Oregon back when Luke Ridnour was a freshman...

We have also had success with German bigs and players born in Oregon....:)

Not sure if the staff are after him though.

Mr Vulture
06-18-2015, 02:07 PM
Holy cow..where has this kid been hiding?? Is he even considering coming to the states for college would be main question? Clearly, he has a real feel for the game and is athletic/explosive for his height. Get him in a strength/conditioning program and watch out. I am really impressed even if it was a 3 on 3 tournament that the highlights came from.

Zagdawg

He was on the French team that bounced the US team --so they would have played against each other (France came in 3rd for the tourney record of 8-1) ---USA came in 8th record 7-4

Tillie ended up with 45 total points (ranked #8 overall for the tourney) --Zach had 13 pts---- keep in mind they were playing inside so only 1 pt per made basket ---- the top US scorer was Prichard with 53 pts (ranked #4 overall).

1.18 points per game for Zach in a game to 21? I was expecting more from afar...

Collins did not play much when USA went small to try to slow the speed of France.

Tillie reminds me a lot of Micah Downs. Excellent defender, bouncy, same body type. As of now he's nowhere near the shooter Micah was or the player for that matter. But I definitely think he has a spot on the roster. A redshirt year to work on the body and American game and this kid could be a stud down the road.

They start off by listing his weight as 230 pounds and his height at 6' 10" (presumably in shoes) -- an increase of 1" from what they reported a few months ago. They go on to say:

"Strengths:
-Good athlete. Runs floor well. Good leaper off two feet. Bouncy
-Good frame that should fill out nicely in time
-Has the potential to develop into a capable outside threat. Can make a catch and shoot jumper. Solid mechanics. Elevates a bit. Has a quick release.
-Very good offensive rebounder. Quick to the ball. Good instincts pursuing loose balls. Always puts himself in the mix. Often able to get to it first due to the quickness in which he gets off the ground
-Shows potential on defense. Fairly competitive. Moves feet. Mobile enough to step out onto the perimeter with long hedges
-Year younger than the competition as a 1998-born prospect

Weaknesses:
-Not exceptionally long
-Does not appear to possess a very high skill-level or a great feel for the game at this stage
-Mostly a garbage man offensively. Lives off cuts, offensive rebounds, transition finishes and the occasional spot-up jumper
-Needs to continue to improve his post game, footwork, ball-handling skills and become a more consistent outside shooter
-Gets posted up inside due to his lack of lower body strength. Struggles to hold ground inside the paint.
-Does not posses great awareness on defense at this stage. Looks very upright in his stance. Struggles to bend his knees
-Not a shot-blocker at all (due to lack of length and awareness?)
-Had an injury plagued season. Missed 73% of team's regular season games, then got hurt in third game of U18s. Something to be concerned about long term?

Outlook: Son of volleyball pros (father from France, mother from Netherlands). Older brothers are also professional athletes. Kim plays basketball for Laboral Vitoria in Spain, and Kevin volleyball in Poland. MVP of the U16 European Championship last summer. Had a difficult 2014-2015 season due to injuries (broken thumb, stress fracture in foot, ankle). Will play one more year at INSEP and then move to the States to play college basketball (brothers played at Utah and U.C. Irvine). Likely will chose from Utah and Gonzaga. Cal and Miami are also in the mix."

This would not be a negative on a team that is going to have 1. Offensive threats like Zach Collins, NWG, Josh Perkins, and potentially Domas Sabonis (I'm not counting Silas and Bryan, yet) and 2. Transition talent like Zach, Josh, and NWG.

I know Melson hasn't proved anything yet but you better start including him as an offensive threat. He'll be our top scoring guard this year.

The thing that I really like about this guy's game is h has outstanding body control. He looks extremely fluid in his movements which bodes well for him moving forward. Obviously, he appears that adding 20 lbs to his frame could be beneficial. Let's get him here ASAP and start working with Michaelson.
