So today a friend of mine told me he read something in the Seattle paper that I do not believe but I have to check It didn't sound like he read it recently but sometime ago. He said that John Stockton is going to officially coach the Gonzaga guards next year. Not on the side, not after practice, but actually be like an assistant coach on the team. He actually said he would be on the bench. I read the board every day and I've never seen this so I think it's totally bogus but he insisted he read it in the Seattle paper. He's a very bright guy and well read and has a great memory so I feel obligated to ask. Has anybody heard or have there been any postings that indicate that John is going to be taking a more official or intense focus coaching than what we have heard in the past where he might play with some of the guys give him some tips etc

The young guns surely could use his coaching. I've not heard anything official. It would be quite a deal to have the best PG in NBA history watching over things. The TV boys would go nuts. Movies are made of less.
A lot of traveling for him. John's pretty much a family guy and stays close to home.

Is he a good coach?

Well, he took an active roll in coaching our guards in the Summer sessions in the Dickua/Stepp era. He seems to know his stuff. .........a little anyway.

That'd require Michaelson, Daniels, or Lloyd leaving. There's only 3 assistant spots per team.

If Prof. Stocks convenes his first class it will be full with high end point guard talent, more than one of whom could find himself in the NBA post commencement.

The new DOBO was announced as John Jakus last year

Stockton's youngest daughter, Laura, will be a freshman for the Lady Zags next season. His youngest son, Sam, will be a freshman at G-Prep

Has anyone had a serious talk with Mrs. & Mr. Stockton about having more children...don't want the "pipeline" to end with Sam. After all, they do have a responsibility to GU!

Between David, his siblings and cousins the Stocton Zagfodder future is prolific.

Ok, extending the line seems to be taken care of...now we need for the Stockton Clan to begin finding taller mates...say around 6'6" or so...our next generation of Stockton's need to be closer to 6'3" or taller, which takes care of our fear of 6' PGs...
