Welcome and look forward to seeing you in two years. Work hard and you will have a super set of big men to practice against. You and Nigel will be able to push each other during your redshirt year. After next year, you will be coming in to replace a great set of big men. But you also will have a super set to be working with during the next two year. Congrats and hope to hear about you as the year goes on.

Congrats JW III! You couldn't have hand picked a better group of bigs to practice against on a daily basis. A couple of guys 7' and 265 ---check. One 6'10" who shoots 47% from 3 ---check. Also a 6' 10" stud with a motor that won't quit ---check. You're also going to be fed by some amazing guards.

Enjoy GU and all that it has to offer. Welcome aboard.

Welcome to SpoVegas JWIII....odds are good that with your hard work and this team's overall Zagness, your decision will pay off big time in the form of deep NCAA tourney runs and major bump in your national exposure along the way.

Go Zags....the best IS yet to come!

Looking at the scholarship chart thread and pending any unexpected early departures, I am uber excited about and confident in the core rotation of 9 players the staff has assembled for the next two-three years.

Wow.....Coach Few is building a powerhouse of a program. I am very confident the Final Four bubble will be burst soon!!!!!

Mizzou grad here...watched JW3 pretty closely the last 2 years. He is SO much fun to watch, and he's only getting better.

I'm so excited to see him and NWG in blue and red, I'm almost overlooking THIS year (which, btw, should be pretty fun as well).

Congrats Few and staff and welcome JWil! Excited to see you in a year+ and welcome to the family.

As has been said earlier, Few is building quite the program and it's just a matter of time before the Zags play for a championship.

I thought we were going to honor BZ's earlier post and announce it there............
Anyway.......With what we have and with WPGoss and Collins and now this. , we should be top 10 and FF contenders for the next 3-4 years at least.
Staff has done an amazing job. I love W3's words on twitter. A kid of deep faith.

Welcome to Gonzaga Johnathan Williams. Really looking forward to seeing you play. Also welcome to your family. ZagNation awaits your arrival.

Just a note about JWIII. He was ranked #42 in the nation coming out of high-school. Wow! Another top 50 recruit. Congrats to the coaches for the hard work you put in to convince Williams that Gonzaga was the perfect place for him.

I have many thoughts on this. That was only one of them. And yes seriously. BZ opened this board 17 yrs ago. I thought he might be respected regarding this. Nothing big. Just a comment. I'm sure we're ALL jacked up over WIlliams3. I know I am.

Sorry if I missed this but I have not really followed this case. I don't get too worked up about these transfer cases until they actually commit. Just wondering why he is leaving Missouri.

The current coach was not the one that recruited him, he did not gel with his teammates, and he felt like he wasn't developing.

Dak Dillon from USA TODAY Sports is quoted in Rant Sports offering his thoughts and opinions regarding the merger of JWIII and GU. He concludes:

"Williams is not going to be a superstar with Gonzaga, but he is going to be able to do what he does best, which is rebound, defend the rim and finish at the rim. He will be a double-double threat on a nightly basis and work hard to earn his playing time. He could not have picked a better program to transfer to, and I expect Mark Few to turn him into another key piece on one of the best and most consistent non-Power 5 teams in the country."

Well If he's a double double kid, he'll be a star here............and that's all that matters. I do think he'll be much happier here/.

That's if he maintains the status quo and doesn't get any better. If we really believe in Travis Knight *and* this staff's ability to improve a player's skill profile, then he's going to be a draft pick his junior or senior year. He's one of those kids who hasn't truly matured, physically. He'll get that, no matter what, here. Better to let people undervalue, though.

Am I being whiny if I think that at this point we should just be referred to as "one of the most consistently elite teams in the country"?

In my opinon, no you are not whiny. We are (at least for the last few years, and several years before that (Dickau, the Richard Fox 2005 team, Adam Morrison 2006 team, and the Pargo,Bouldin, Daye, Josh 2008-09 team) were consistently in the top ten.

However, for analysts to state that we are "one of the most consistently elite teams in the country...." we have to put together a HUGE run and string them all basically together. its us against the World Dixie. If we make this run from 2013 to say, even 2018 and make SEVERAL deep runs, including a Final Four, then I think the talking heads will proclaim that. Without a Final Four nobody will look at us more than the best non-power five, which doesn't amount to more than what it has.

Fine then. Us against the world. It has been all along. Lets go Zags!
