I'm surprised.

Good for them. They've worked hard.

I think that it's fair to vote Gonzaga almost anywhere in the top ten. That being said, I do find it odd that one voter dropped Gonzaga from 4th to 6th in his poll from last week. Interesting.

Maybe it was the worst 18 point win he's ever seen?

Including one #1 vote??? That's surprising to me.

Yeah we don't deserve any ANY #1 votes AT ALL. Kentucky should have all of the #1 votes. Period. Even if they lose one, two, or maybe even three games.

Interesting .... Guessing that whoever voted for GU thought GU was better than Kentucky. They must drink the same brew as I do!

Is coach Cal allowed to vote for his own team? I don't know who votes in the coaches poll. I'm guessing coaches.

Zags a good paper #2.

But we learned the lesson in SLC that it doesn't mean much.

Congrats to the Zags----nothing wrong with some good press.

I won't complain, but the target on our back just got that much bigger. And right before a bay area road trip, which always seems to be fraught with unexpected surprises. Zags better have their A-game on this week.

So true. I always hate going to the Bay area for big games. Scary.

The only coach on that list that really knows how good the Zags are is Randy Bennett. I doubt any of the other are very interested. This time of year basketball coaches at every level are pretty much focused only on their own team and their next opponent.

Wait, what? As if going from #3 to #2 is going to make teams in the WCC realize we're ranked?

respectfully disagree...this time of the year it is just the opposite. While you focus on your team, you also start to collect game tapes, breakdowns and assessment of potential tournament teams......

In ESPN's story on the latest polls the Zags are getting some 'interesting' 'reviews' in the comments.

Makes me want to sing "Home On The Range". You can tell a lot of those folks don't call the Range home (as they use a not so wide variety of disparaging words). I'm sure some would throw a necktie party for the lone coach who voted the Zags a #1. ...... March will tell! Go Zags!

Why Tyson Alger voting in the AP poll couldn't vote Gonzaga #2

"Should Gonzaga be No. 2 in the country? The majority of the AP Top 25 voters think so, but I didn't see it that way this week. When I submitted my ballot in this week's AP Top 25 men's basketball poll, I definitely thought about putting the Bulldogs at the No. 2 spot. With one loss, Gonzaga should be in the discussion with the Kentuckys, Dukes and Virgnias. But after its first loss of the season, I'm not ready to drop Virginia from the No. 2 spot.

With equal records, for me, it comes down to quality wins."

Agree-- but #2 is a nice place to be-- great visibility for recruiting and keeps Gonzaga in the discussion for a 1 seed come March.

It would have been fascinating to see what might've happened had Georgia been able to sustain its run last night @ Kentucky and eeked out a victory. Kentucky would join us with one loss, however, we'd have a comfortable neutral court win over Georgia.

Purely moot at this point, but it sure would have been fun.

If that was Randy Bennett who voted us #1, that would be the move of a desperate coach trying to prop up his own team. I don't think there's a logical reason to put any team ahead of Kentucky right now.

For about 8 or 9 minutes against St Mary's the Zags looked like a number 1 team. The other 31 minutes not so much.
