Here it is:

5. Kyle Wiltjer, Gonzaga Bulldogs

Kyle Wiltjer
Casey Sapio/USA TODAY SportsThough surrounded by great talent at Gonzaga, Kyle Wiltjer is the Bulldogs' primary scoring option.

At first glance Wiltjer is a serious contender for No. 1 on this list. For one thing he's more accurate inside the arc than any player here except Okafor. Wiltjer is also making a higher percentage of his 3s than all but two players here. (Read on.) And he's recording all of the above accuracy while carrying an even larger portion of the Bulldogs offense than stars like Okafor and Kaminsky shoulder for their teams.

One factor alone landed Wiltjer down here in the list's midsection rather than at the very top. Maybe this is on Mark Few and the depth he has on the roster in Spokane, but Wiltjer plays far fewer minutes than most of the players here. Nevertheless I have a feeling that when tournament time rolls around and the Zags are faced with a formidable opponent, Wiltjer will have the opportunity to extend his excellence across more minutes.

Thanks Angelo. I didn't realize he wasn't playing as many minutes. Could you even imagine what the numbers would be hahaha? My goodness.

look at any games that were actually in contention, Im betting he played 30+ in those.

as zag fans we know the reasoning, but from a pure statistical perspective Wiltjer and Sabonis should play way more minutes

One or the other is on the floor almost the entire game unless it's garbage time, and they are on the floor together fairly often. Barring a 3 bigs lineup with those 2 and Karnowski, not sure how you would increase their collective minutes much. It would come at the expense of Karno's playing time.

Think of how much less time they'd be playing if someone hadnt gone brain dead over christmas...

I have the same thoughts, but I am just here so I won't get fined.

I disagree. Comparing the three bigs, my advanced statistics show the team is more efficient with Karnowski on the floor. Second is Sabonis.

Taken as pairings, they rank:
1. Karnowski/Sabonis
2. Karnowski/Wiltjer
3. Sabonis/Wiltjer

Not knocking Wiltjer at all. The team is still very efficient with him out there.
