The best win for our profile would be St. John's over Duke. I doubt it will happen, but it would really improve the perception of our win over the Red Storm. It would also put another loss on Duke if we are competing against the Blue Devils for the final No. 1 seed.

Duke vs. St. John's is at MSG, but I actually wouldn't be surprised if the Dukies have more of the crowd behind them. MSG has been their home away from home for years. If I remember correctly it seems like the Johnnies didn't get all that big of a crowd for the NIT game against Gonzaga. NYC is more of a pro sports town, not sure that St. John's has a real strong following.

Agree 100% Jazz. Horrible bball IQ and some of the worst decision makers. Definitely the most athletic team we have faced all year.

Anyone know how Memphis would stack up athlete wise to St. John's? I haven't seen them play this year.

UVA 50,
VATECH 45, 2:04 to play.

VA on a 12-2 run. . .

50 - 47 32 seconds left. Tech will inbound with a chance to tie. . .Hokie shooter has his three attempt blocked. . .UVA misses FT. Hokies ball with 6.8 seconds to play and one more chance to tie with a 3PFG. . .Will Virginia foul on purpose ??? No, and the FG attempt is an in & out.

Cavaliers win, 50 - 47

Tech is looking exactly like the 224 rpi team would look down the stech. Still a shot down three shooting 1.

A team like that can be scary when they get on a roll. So much bravado and confidence can compensate for the lack of good decision making.

Redmen doing just what Lavin's asking them to do offensively, drive and attack the rim, no fadeaways, strong with the ball and finish through contact, find the open man weakside...all the things he said in that timeout they televised. I'd say that's good stuff although par for the course out of that timeout the Johnnies gave up a dunk. but they don't want to play chess with Duke, you know? I'd say that's smart and his team responded to that, but agree they have some of the worst decision making, could be much larger lead with simple plays which they missed.

that hard foul by de la Rosa changed the tone

man Lavin can talk

they showed more than just that, like when Coach K went for the zone out of the timeout after only M2M until then and the Johnnies read and reacted, burned that chess move. but they are outmatched in that in this game; Lavin pushing his athletic advantage with the style of game. I don't know that it will ultimately work and win this game though. Johnnies will need to keep scoring and playing loose, hard to do down the stretch this style

I'm totally ok with coach K having to wait til another day for his 1,000th win. No doubt that he'll get there, just doesn't need to be today. BTW, as I write this there's 15:13 to go in the game and St John's is up 51-43 :-)

I know they can play stupid, but when it all clicks, wow.

We beat them in the Garden by a comfy margin

That's fair. They are executing their game plan and taking advantage of their mismatches. I don't know how you would trust a team like this in a close finish however. They are just as likely to make a spectacular play to win as they are to throw the ball out of bounds.

yep, down the stretch we'll see, it gets tougher usually. probably rely on individuals to make plays, Lavin will probably play for matchups he wants and go after them off the bounce, that's what I would expect. Harrison can do it but he's playing poorly so far. Anyway, I'm off to my kid's game now, will have to watch the rest later. cheers

He had 9 points in 29 minutes, 5 assists, 9 rebounds. . .5 personal fouls. . .I suspect Mr Bell's defense had something to do with it

NW loses. I assume they must have played well to get the lead but unfortunately I only saw the final 3 minutes.

Utah is leading UW by 13 with 13 minutes left.

Interesting fact. Upshaw from UW has more blocks than every other team in the Pac 12.

Zagdawg
01-25-2015, 05:52 PM
The color guy just mentioned that Upshaw can't block a three---- and Utah is making it rain --like 4 threes in a row.

Utah up 60-39 with 11:34 remaining.
