Two games down to the wire: West Virginia-TCU 83-81 TCU 26.8 seconds left; Georgetown- Marquette into overtime om a Carlino shot 81-81

Section 116

West Virgina gets the ball with 26.8 let, hits a three to go up one, TCU dashes downcourt and scores at 1.8 seconds to go up one, West Virginia throws the homerun ball and gets fouled at 0.9 seconds. A freshman steps up and hits two for the win. Great game!

Two games down to the wire: West Virginia-TCU 83-81 TCU 26.8 seconds left; Georgetown- Marquette into overtime om a Carlino shot 81-81

Unbelievable ending.

Regulation time

Tied with 11 seconds, TCU hits a 2

WVU drives, hits 2 with no time.

Over TIME

WVU down 2 with 26 second left to play

Hits a 3 with 7 seconds to play

TCU drives down and hits shot with 1.8 seconds.

WVU throws long ball like hitting a receiver on the post pattern, guy has a lay-up, misses, foul called.

2 FT down one with .2 seconds left.

Hits both FTs, WVU wins.

Unbelievable

Michigan State down 14 to Nebraska at half.

I respect both the program and the coach but how are they an 8 seed in the brackets? They don't have any good wins and are 0-4 vs RPI to 25. They have also lost to Texas Southern and their best win is Indiana at home.

If that was GU's resume we'd be treated much harsher.

BYU's gotta be seriously worried about making the Tourney at this point. Not much in the way of quality wins, too many WCC losses already. St. Mary's better not stumble or it's going to be a 1 bid league for the WCC this year (unless somebody other than GU wins the conference tourney).

St. Mary's, as usual, now has to put all their eggs in winning the WCC tourney at this point. And this loss by BYU has put them in the same position. It really bites that this may be a 1-bid league this year.

Kansas on the road over Texas. They have 3 losses, one against Kentucky so that doesn't count. I could see them making a big run through a killer B-12 and grabbing a one seed no matter what we or Arizona do. Unlikely, but possible.

I'm looking at this as the rest of the WCC is just getting better. Zags may have clobbered SMC - but, Zags are #3 and that's what can be expected of a #3 team - especially at home.

Separate topic ..... UK only scored 58 points in their win today with 46% FGs, 33% 3s & 70% FT - against S Carolina. Looks like UK can let off the gas.

BYU looks like the typical pretty good midmajor without Austin. Good guards who can score and third tier 6'10 stiffs inside. The GU game at BYU was made "respectably" close by home court calls. GU will beat them by 15 or more at home.

Only one NCAA worthy team in the WCC this year; sad but true.

Michigan has gotten gutted by early entries the last 3 years, and most of them weren't blue chippers that were expected to go early when they showed up on campus. They just lost their best player for the rest of the year to an injury. If they stayed near the same level this year as they had been the previous several, it would have been a miracle, and a phenomenal job of coaching.

I'll give you Syracuse and Michigan St. I would add Florida. They lost of a whole bunch of Sr. from last year, but they weren't supposed to be this bad.

Arizona played fairly well a couple games in a row. Now they're having another one of those where they seemed to have forgotten that the point of basketball is to make the ball go thru the hoop. I had to quit watching. More turnovers than FG. Only thing saving them is Cal is playing just as bad. Pathetic. Plus whistle happy Pac 12 refs at it again. First 2 1/2 minutes had 3 fouls all called 25 feet from the basket, minimal contact, had no impact on the play at all.

Tinkle is doing a hell of a job coaching there. They had zero expectations coming into the season. They didn't have one significant contributor from last year returning. He's got them sitting at 3rd place in the Pac 12 nearing the halfway point and undefeated at home for the season. I thought that Robinson had been underachieving there, Tinkle is making that glaringly obvious.

Yeah, they got back in the game shooting 3's, but then they went cold, kept shooting them. Couldn't get a bucket when they needed it in the last couple minutes. Down one had several possessions with a chance to take the lead, couldn't do it. Also missed some big FT's.

47 Fouls!

That's more than one a minute - and not really close on the "more."

That's unwatchable and must leave some game totally foreign to "basketball."

I wonder if messages to the AD and/or conference with white hot anger about games called this way could ever do any good?

How do we prepare for the tourney?

4 ofthe 5 starters for the Gaels were in foul trouble, 2 fouling out. Waldow had 3, so they weren't calling the shoulder lowering move into the paint.
Van der Meer had 4 so they were calling him for standing his ground. He had 16 points and 13 boards, so out-played Waldow statistically.
I don't understand the foul total either, not having watched the game, but if one team was attempting a comeback, at the end, that could account for the excessive fouls called over the 1 per minute.
Of course it could be, one of the refs did actually swallow his whistle, but it didn't go all the way down. The act of clearing his throat caused it to blow and they couldn't allow a stoppage in play to go un-punished!

that's why it has been so strange that they have NOT inverted their offense.....I would be having entry pass to wing by Collinsworth and then invert him to the block on a constant basis
