LOS ANGELES -- Gary Bell Jr. led four players in double figures with 17 points and No. 3 Gonzaga pulled away in the second half to beat Loyola Marymount 72-55 Saturday for its 11th straight win over the Lions.

Kevin Pangos added 16 points and six assists, Bryon Wesley had 14 points and Kyle Wiltjer 12 points for the Zags (18-1, 7-0 West Coast). They've won 10 in a row since their only loss in overtime to Arizona on Dec. 6.

Ayodeji Egbeyemi scored 14 points and Petr Herman had 14 points and seven rebounds for the Lions (5-14, 1-6).

The Zags raced to a 20-2 lead, with Wiltjer, Wesley and Bell combing to score all their points. LMU missed its first five shots and had two turnovers, putting the Lions in catch-up mode the rest of the way.

Bell ended a lengthy scoring slump with 17 points, his most since dropping 18 on St. Joseph’s in the third game of the season, as the third-ranked Zags shut down Loyola Marymount 72-55 in front of 4,026 Saturday at Gersten Pavilion.

Gonzaga (18-1, 7-0 WCC) limited the Lions (5-14, 1-6) to 29 percent shooting en route to its 11th consecutive victory.
Bell offered a wide smile when asked about his 5-of-9 field-goal shooting and 4-of-4 effort at the free throw line. He made 3 of 6 3-pointers.

“Finally got some shots to go in,” said Bell, who had reached double figures just once in the previous 10 games. “I feel like I’ve been doing everything right and finally seeing the ball go in was nice. I’ve been in a slump before but nothing like this. It’s nice to get it out of the way.”

Bell on the defense: “We’re fine, we just have to finish it off with a rebound. I know this week we’ll be hitting a lot in practice because we have (Saint Mary’s center Brad) Waldow up next and he’s a rebounding machine.”

Few on the defense: “We had a long film session and we didn’t want to go very hard in practice but that (improving defensively) was the main emphasis after that second half in Malibu. We didn’t play the way we’ve played this year and the way we wanted to play. Through the course of the game we ended up defending pretty well.”

Pangos on the defense: “We had to focus on guarding people as a team instead of 1-on-1. We did better with that.”
