Portis of Arkansas And Gonzaga's Karnowski Named NetScouts Basketball Players of The Week

Another big man across the country had a successful week of his own, as Przemek Karnowski led Gonzaga to two conference wins. The 7-foot-1 junior has been named NetScouts Basketball's International Player of the Week for games from January 5th to January 11th.

Karnowski, a native of Torun, Poland, was close to perfect this week. He scored 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting in an 88-57 wins against San Francisco and responded with an even more impressive 18 points and nine rebounds on 8-of-10 shooting in a 79-57 victory over Santa Clara. He averaged 17.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game this week while shooting 75 percent (15-20) from the floor and a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line.

Very deserving. Nice to see his parents in the stands enjoying the party!

Shem was also nominated as WCC Player of the Week, but lost out to Stacy Davis of Pepperdine.

If he can vanquish the free throw demons he will make a ton of money .... it is amazing to see a player that size going to the floor after a loose ball...

Love the 4/4 FT shooting. He looks so much more comfortable at the line lately.

Shem is a gem :)
It'll be interesting to see how Edwards does next year with the rest of the big Zags as tutors & teammates. We might have to start looking for short recruits ;)

If ya'll wanna keep throwing around the All American titles... Shem may be on his way.

Davis had a heck of a week/weekend. He deserves the WCC POTW.

I too am really curious how Edwards will do... and how hes been doing too.

As well as he's been playing, that's the line that stood out to me as well. Great to see him sink those.

We always said it was mental with him.

Doubt it's an accident that it's picked up right as his entire game has been taken to a new level.

In November he was 4/13 from the line. In December and January, he has made 18/26, which is a little better than 68%. And he's made 8 of his last 10.

I think it probably is also a lot of hard work. Before every game he spends a lot of time shooting free throws. Every once in awhile someone else shoots a free throw or two (often Kevin). But every game I've made it to, Shem spent a lot of the general shooting warm up time on free throws.
