From today's SLC Tribune:

At practice Friday afternoon, Tyler Haws surprised his coach by playing through the pain of an ankle he badly sprained less than a week before.

On Saturday night, Haws simply did the kind of things everyone has come to expect.

The senior BYU guard, and the nation’s third leading scorer, went for 24 on 8-of-15 shooting to lead the Cougars to a 79-77 win over the visiting Stanford Cardinal.

"Pretty impressive," BYU coach Dave Rose said. "He’s just one of those guys that’s got a special combination [of attributes]."

Glad he's back. Zags will benefit from playing a tough BYU team.

I'm so glad BYU won. Now if they beat UMASS they'll be in the top 50 RPI I'm sure. They are already there in the BPI.

This was a big win for BYU and WCC...should have boosted their RPI too.

Tyler Haws is a very talented basketball player, who plays exceptionally well on both ends of the court. Haws will be difficult to unseat as WCC POY as his game has improved since last year.

I am glad he is healthy enough to play next Saturday, as we need to beat a healthy BYU to boost our RPI/BPI.

REBORN question, regarding RPI calculations - beating a TOP 50 (BYU) team: In order for GU to have another significant win of this type, doesn't BYU have to remain in the TOP 50 for the season? My understanding is that if they drop our of the TOP 50, then we wouldn't get credit for a TOP 50 win. Please elaborate...THANKS
