View Full Version : GUnit of the Game: WSU - 12.10.2014

12-10-2014, 09:01 PM
A workmanlike effort for the Zags against a pesky Cougar squad. Good win for the Zags on a night that saw Kevin Pangos mugged early in the contest and caused us to hold our collective breath. He didn't look the same after that and did not score any points. Others stepped up to ensure the Bulldogs would head to their UCLA match up with the "W".

Who gets your vote as the GUnit of the game ?

Karnowski. Maybe the best game of his career.

Karnowski. Maybe the best game of his career.

Yepper, I feel the same. Dranginis had a helluva game too. Not much fanfare but he was solid.

Karno was great. But going with Wesley after his rebound from the ending of the AZ game.

And loved KD's work out there.

You can just see the confidence rising in Karno. I think maybe he's feeling a bit of a push from Sabonis, in a good way.

12-10-2014, 09:07 PM
I went Karno. He just made it look EASY!

On a side note, three players score 20+ tonight. I know it's rare, but I wonder HOW rare exactly?

12-10-2014, 09:08 PM
Hmm...do I take the guy with 20 points, 21, or 22? :)

12-10-2014, 09:08 PM
All Karno in the 1st half, Wesley and Wiltjer tore it up in the 2nd half. Can't decide who to vote for. Can it be split 3 ways?

12-10-2014, 09:09 PM
Gotta go with Karnowski, it's the most dominant I've seen him. Loved that he carried over from Zona. Byron with a close second.

12-10-2014, 09:09 PM
Wish we would've run up the score a little. Just don't really care for WSU at all ;)

Agreed. Especially after we the grief we got for scheduling this game

Karnowski, Wiltjer, and Wesley DOMINATED, but Karnowski stood out dramatically. It was a Bill Walton circa 1973 type game where he was simply too big and too talented. Karno looked like an 8th grader playing against 4th graders. It was a flipping AWESOME performance by our big man.

Draino. Critical play early on with pango on bench, lots deflections, handled ball , rebounded and played critical defense

Without it might have been tied going into halftime

You cannot vote given a singular option. It was Karno AND Wesley. Both brought their lunch pails, skill and attitude.

12-10-2014, 09:19 PM
Karnowski. He could have had 40 tonight I think if the coach had wanted him too. But Few was right. The team needs to practice running their offense over and over and over. They MUST get ready for UCLA. I thought Wesley and Wiltjer also played very well. And Sabonis was strong off the bench tonight. I thought Melson played better as well. Glad to see the Cougars make a game of it. The Zags had to work for it. You won't see Pangos go scoreless very much. IMO, he is really in a shooting slump.

Go Zags!!!

My vote went to Karnowski. Wesley & Wiltjer tied for second. Dranginis gave the Zags some really good minutes tonight.

12-10-2014, 09:26 PM
I also voted for Karnowski. Wiltjrer and Wesley both played great but went with Karno, tonight may have been his best game as a Zag.

12-10-2014, 09:34 PM
To me there was no doubt it was Karnowski. But Wesley, Wiltjer and Dranginis also played one of their better games. Go Zags and play well on Saturday.

12-10-2014, 09:35 PM
I wanna go with a dual winner. Wesley and mount karnowski. Both were amazing

PK a great game
This is why I was down on PK a few games back, he was playing way under his potential, as the last 2 games have demonstrated. He needs to keep it going!

Draino. The Swiss Army Knife.

12-10-2014, 09:43 PM
In Shem I trust!

The big guy got my vote.

Also echoing thoughts on KD, loved him hitting that three towards the end of the game.

12-10-2014, 09:43 PM
Wesley impressed me but Karno was... wow.

Draino. The Swiss Army Knife.

just wish he would be a little more aggressive offensively...he's even worse than bell (who's been better this year). nice to see him knock one down from three as he's struggled with his shot...hasn't quite developed as a shooter.

Shem with the flu.

I said at the beginning of the season we could have 10 different players win, Player of the Game, before the season was over. I think we are half way there. Maybe 10 was a lofty goal, but I think 8 is money.

Karnowski reminded me of my playground basketball-playing days when I was in middle school. There was ALWAYS a high schooler there, and they would just score all the points against the little kids, and make it look so easy.

12-11-2014, 09:13 AM
Karno, obviously, was great; but Wesley was our secret weapon.

12-11-2014, 09:33 AM
Wesley gets my vote, barely over Karnowski. Wiltjer obviously had a nice game, too, but I think that's what we need out of him on a regular basis!

Karnowski dominated in the first half, but Wesley was consistently able to get us a bucket. Karnowski's performance undoubtedly opened things up for other guys (like Wesley). Tough choice!

Wesley, close second. Dude knows how to use the backboard better than any player I can recall.

Wesley reminds me of a kid who grew up playing against either older, taller or more athletic players. He either had to find a way to shoot over or around them if he we to exceed in the game. He apparently learned very well in my view.

Karno gets it just for the ridiculous no look pass in the paint he made.
