Gonzaga Soccer Squads earn NSCAA Team Academic Award

Both of Gonzaga's soccer teams earn NSCAA Team Academic award, top WCC in Team GPA for 2013-14

KANSAS CITY, Mo.ó Gonzaga Universityís soccer teams were recognized for their excellence in the classroom Monday as both the womenís and the menís squads earned the NSCAA Team Academic Award, as announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

Gonzagaís womenís soccer team earned the award for the sixth consecutive season, posting a 3.43 GPA over the 2013-14 school year. Along with the University of San Francisco, the Zags led the rest of the West Coast Conference in team GPA.

On the mení side, the Bulldogs were recognized by the NSCAA for the 12th consecutive season, tied for the sixth-longest stretch among all collegiate menís soccer programs. They too posted the highest team GPA last season, tallying a collective 3.17.

Winners of the NSCAA Team Academic Award must post a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher in the previous academic year. A total of 861 teams (582 women's, 279 men's) earned the award this season for their classroom successes last year. Only 188 schools saw both the womenís and the menís programs recognized.
