Not to brush aside the St. Thomas victory, but, now's when we really find out about the team - on the road, BCS opponents.

Here's the primer on Georgia:

University Basketball Website: http://www.georgiadogs.com/sports/m-baskbl/geo-m-baskbl-body.html

ESPN UGA: http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/team/_/id/61/georgia-bulldogs

Blog: http://hoopdawgblog.com/

Blog: http://bulldawgillustrated.com/ (You'll have to scroll through tons of football)

Don't even bother going to any of the newspaper sites; It's end of football season and you'll have to shift through about 30 football articles to find anything on basketball, and the article will likely be something about some basketball player who damn well should be playing football.

Any UGA people who come by, throw some stuff out.

What I know about Georgia: they were 10-6 and 3rd in the sec last year I believe. My knowledge stops there though.

Small....5-10 PG and and an even "smaller" frontcourt.....Fox brings back really bad memories of the most ignominious loss in GU postseason history. He was that sour#### Trent Johnson's assistant.

Return ALL five starters from last season. A rarity in College BB or any sport.

Some pundits have them picked to be a dark-horse team to challenge either Florida or Kentucky in the SEC.

Nearly every publication pick either Georgia, LSU, or Arkansas as the clear-cut 3rd place team.

They were technically "upset" by an in state rival [Georgia Tech] to start the season, little trouble winning since.

A veteran team, several seniors, all five starters return, & 7 of their top-8 scoring options. They surprised some people last season, gave good teams good games, & should provide the stiffest test to date, considering its a neutral site & they are, by far, most experienced team we will face until Conference play.

They aren't the tallest team, yet not short on athletes. Heard they play smart as well. We will see...Zags first true road game. Can our freshman superstars play as confident, fired up, & effective away from the komforts of the kennel?

10-6 and returning all 5 starters is pretty impressive.

Nah...I don't link...don't know how...don't want to learn.... the Google found it for me with a search of a 24 hour time filter...was just a one sentence comment he made after their recent win..

Last sentence in Online Athens, Athens Banner Herald, Sunday Nov. 23......search Georgia Basketball...Win over Florida Atlantic ...

I think Georgia will play hard. They have nothing to lose and will give it all they've got. With that said, GOnzaga is favored for good reason.

A not too bad article on their latest win:

UGA fans, we could use a little help here. Find us some good blogs - if they exist at the end of football season.

Just looking at who they beat... FAU, Troy, Stony Brook... they didn't exactly blow these teams out. Not sure they actually play defense if THESE teams are posting 60+ point on them. I'd get it if they were putting on nearly triple digits, but they aren't.

Best line IMHO...

The first of those games is 9:30 p.m. Wednesday against 13th-ranked Gonzaga (TV: ESPN2), which has been bludgeoning all foes so far this season, winning three games by an average margin of more than 40 points.

Coach speak continues.....

“They’re got a terrific team,” Fox said. “This will be as good of a team as we’ll play probably all year. I mean, they’re terrific. I know Kentucky is great, and we’ve got a lot of good teams in our league. But this is a great basketball team, an experienced team. We’ll have to play very, very well to give ourselves a chance to win. But it’s time for another test like that.”

Flattering but Kentucky is the best team they will play all year and they get them twice.

"As good as any" is a great qualifier and non-statement. Not saying "the best" so you don't create bulletin board material for other foes but still showing you think somebody is pretty good.

They must teach seminars about this stuff to coaches :-)

Georgia's strength is in its guard play - Charles Mann and Kenny Gaines are one of the better backcourts in the SEC. Mann is particularly tough to handle for opposing PGs at 6'5".

That being said, UGA does not have the personnel to be able to hang with Gonzaga for 40 minutes.

Only way Georgia keeps it close is if Mann can get some of Zags starters in foul trouble.

Thanks for the insight. We appreciate all fans outlooks on games before during and after. I have been watching your games closely (particularly against GT, and Stony Brook) ... You guys have a solid team. It will be interesting how the flow of the game is determined by the guards.

Pangos very seldom gets in foul trouble...he is the only indispensable Zag.... they can win without him, but it would be much more difficult..

Georgia is ranked 59th on Kenpom, 63rd in both adjusted offense and adjusted defense, and 20th in adjusted tempo.

Georgia finally has a thread for the game (http://www.secrant.com/rant/p/53948048/huge-game-for-mark-foxs-team-tonight-in-madison-square-against-gonzaga/), so a couple of their fans at least looked at the basketball schedule.

I can probably count the number of UGA basketball fans that I know on one hand. It's a football school, and anything involving basketball goes virtually unnoticed. Dawgs basketball is not an easy program to support with their lack of any sustained success, but there are a few of us UGA bball fans out there :)

We genuinely appreciate you stopping by. We have some great visitors with schools OOC (and even a couple in conference) that come here every year and we always like having them around and hearing from them, Memphis is an annual opponent with good fans we like, UWashington, not so much.
