OT: Seahawks 12th Man Flag Raising

The 12th Man flag was raised before yesterday's Seahawks game by Major Scott Smiley. Major Smiley is the Army's first blind active duty officer. He's an assistant professor of Military Science at GU. He yelled a hearty "Go Zags" in his radio interview after hoisting the flag.

Angelo, thanks so much for posting this. As an Army veteran and a GU ROTC alum this fills me with pride as much as it humbles me. I am so proud that Gonzaga can help break barriers for our Wounded Warriors and show how they continue to lead the best institutions in our country.

A special thanks to MAJ Smiley for his sacrifice and his commitment. Thanks for letting Gonzaga be the place where you chose to excel in your Army career!

Thanks for the post. I hope he can stay a Zag for a long long time. True testament to our men and women in uniform.

I was at the game yesterday. That was very moving. They honored our military personnel throughout the game. Immediately at the conclusion of the National Anthem a Blackhawk and a Chinook helicopter buzzed over the field, that was pretty cool.

This was absolutely great, and I don't even like the seahawks.

                  Well done, sir !

That is a very great way to honor Veterans, especially this week.

Wore my Pat Tillman #40 Cardinals jersey to the game. The raising of the flag was pretty emotional. A great moment. Lots of Blue, red and white in the crowd disguised as Giants jerseys.
